For a screen size as small as 37" I think it really comes down to user preference. As long as you've got an LCD model that has good black levels, it will be on par with any plasma (and vice-versa).

But for screen sizes larger than 50", and especially larger than 60", LCD tends to have the advantage as they generally have higher resolutions at that size.
