I have $2000, buy me a TV...

Yep, she ended up buying the 50 or 52' Samsung DLP from Circuit City. They seem to be very happy with their selection, like all "new to HD" people they find themselves watching WOSUHD and other shows they dont like just to enjoy the new toy.

Thanks for asking.

my old roommate got a 42" plasma from dell for 1800. it was a great tv. costco is an awesome place to get a tv from because the membership includes a service plan. so you can get it fixed or get a new one if something breaks

Buy mine for 1500 and I'll throw in a T.V. Guide from two months ago for free.

When I look at big, flat screen tvs the ones that always stand out are the
Pioneer Plasmas! Big bucks! :yow1: :yow1: :yow1: :yow1:

I am in the market for Pioneer PDP-425CMX 42" Plasma TV. I have been
reading expert reviews and that has been useful to me. It may be help
you too. I had been using PCWorld.com, cnet.com to find reviews. Yesterday
I also used PriceGrabber?s expert review tab (http://www.pricegrabber.com/info_expertreviews.php/masterid=16677678)
and found a site (www.smartratings.com) that aggregates expert reviews.
It only covers a few categories but it is pretty neat. Just my $.02.

go to hhgregg (one up on sawmill) they usually have people who are actually know stuff and i can usually haggle them for a hundred bucks or so.

Just saw this since someone else had bumped it up and I was reading through it and figured I'd share a little info...

My friend worked at HHGregg for a few weeks and told me about the item number thing they have on their tags in-store. There should be 4-5 numbers at the end of the item/ID number on the tag and that is the profit they make off of that item. So say you have a pretty expensive TV and the number/ID on the tag is 2006STDBCSOSU00021312. They make $213.12 on that set and he said that as long as they make money on it, you can get them to sell it to you for less than the initial price. He said what they were instructed was to offer lower if the person says they will be looking at some other stores (maybe a Best Buy or Circuit City in the area) before deciding. That's an easy way to get some money off at HHGregg as opposed to forcing your hand. Also, you know how low they will go with that number.

In the middle of April through the end of April HHGregg usually has big sales on TV's... They tend to get the new models in May, so the need to blowout the "old" ones.

Last year I managed to get a nice Sony LCD HD tv for basically half of the list price. They had it marked down, then marked it down again in late april... I offered to purchase the tv for an even lower price than the lowest tag and they agreed (granted I said I'd take the floor model, and as it turned out they had another in the back, so I didn't even have to settle for the floor model).

The longer you wait in April, the better the price (however the selection drys up)... just an fyi...
