I don't give a darn about your indie bands

I couldn't name more than 3 Vampire Weekend songs and wouldn't ever buy a cd, buuuuut I heard this one a couple weeks ago and had to do my damned to convince my sister it wasn't Paul Simon. It almost sounds like it could be right off the Graceland album. Being confused with Paul Simon is pretty decent praise

Their music is pretty damn catchy.

I agree that VW sounds similar to Graceland. The difference is Paul Simon A-did it much better B-did it first C-did it with real African musicians-Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa, and D-doesn't act all gay and cutesy w/ his instruments on stage.

Damn that really sucks about the white stripes. They're an awesome band. But as someone stated jack white is a great musician and he'll continue to release good music. Hope he finds a good band to join and continues to rock on!

:shake: Young people.

Eagles would only get back together when "Hell Freezes Over"

Eddie would never play on the same stage as Roth "Ever Again"

Nothing is forever, kids. Trust me.

Do you know anything about Jack White or the White Stripes? Jack White does not screw around with things like this, not to mention he has like 1,222,354 other side bands. I highly doubt they will ever record or perform again. Comparing them/him to the Eagles and Van Halen just confirms this opinion.

Yes, I do know quite a bit about the band and Jack. This little outburst just confirms how young you are. I was not comparing the bands, but the situations of "not going to play together ever again". If you knew anything about the other two situations, then you would see where I was coming from.

I think they'll eventually play together again. I doubt there will ever be another studio album. I'm guessing they tried to write some new White Stripes stuff recently and just weren't having the same type of creativity they had when they were younger. Or maybe Jack forgot how to play guitar since he has been on the drums for far too long now

This has been a sad week for my iPod. I've known about this one for a while, but didn't need a reminder:

LCD Soundsystem Announce Farewell NYC Show

Marathon three-hour set to span full career with special guests

LCD Soundsystem have announced that they will play their final show on Saturday, April 2, at New York City's Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had promised before the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening that it would serve as their victory lap, and indeed it has. They'll go out with a bang, however: A marathon hometown set in which "for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours-- playing stuff we've never played before." Famed underground dance group Liquid Liquid will open the show.
The group has also requested that everyone who attends wear white, black, or black and white. General onsale tickets will begin Friday, February 11. Check back here at Pitchfork for further news about what should prove to be an extraordinary end to an extraordinary band.

Don't disagree with any of that (except for D - I have no idea what they look like or do). I was just surprised at how damn catchy and easy to listen to it was.
