That's something I thought about, but the way people talked about it, I got the notion they just pretty much were handed their unis after the season. If they have to pay, then either lower the price/cut it completely, and they don't get to keep them. That shouldn't be a game changer.

Yup, that's it. Because JT has truly shown himself to be fucking Rhodes Scholar over the past twelve months. Well, I should give you credit for getting the smug part right.

I said reminds, as in comes off that way not that he IS a fucking rhodes scholar as you put it... honestly I thought it to be a great discription of the perception of Tress...making it all the more satisfying for the masses to hang him publicly but I regret posting that in this thread

This is true. We'd all prefer an honest "this is going to hurt" before getting [censored]ed by the powers that be but again, welcome to the real world kids. At our age they give us lines about quality of life, being team members, benefits packages yadda yadda.

People who say they give a [Mark May] about you don't and the only people who care if you get [censored]ed is your immediate family.

That's the facts Jax......well played

Maybe he's "not all in" on the 2004 style pants?
You shut your filthy mouth (04 = metallic pants). Note: they did ditch the see-through, beige pants for more gray (not metallic) pants a few years ago.

msg, I'll try to tackle your idea on monday. Here's something from last fall in the meantime:

OSU supplied me with exactly what I've been arguing for in these discussions... old pant color, new jerseys. Matching (black) stripes on the pants aren't a big deal to me.

Check out the old pants (worn in practice) w/ the new jerseys, from the spring game. Compare that with the offwhite/dust pants we currently wear.

Either remove our "silver" helmet (which is classic) or make the pants match. If metallic pants are too logical Nike, at least make the pants somewhat similar.

Coach Tressel doing what he was supposed to also would have avoided the last 5 months of [Mark May]storms.

For me this is the bottom line. Players will do stupid stuff. If you don't expect that crap to happen you are kidding yourself.

I don't expect the coach to do equally stupid stuff. There are rules and there are remedies. If JT had responded as he should this is all in our rear view mirror.

Why he acted as he did continues to mystify me.

And there it is. This, to me, is really the argument between the all in/ not all in. Everything I've learned about James Patrick Tressel over the last ten years tells me that he's not immune to mistakes. It also tells me that his intentions could not have been "I'm not gonna get caught, and I needs me some trophies!!" It just doesn't add up. I understand why people are saying I'm naive, and I'm not mad at them. I just can't believe that the same dude that still helped Louis Irizarry get into college after fucking him over at tOSU...the same man that reached out to MoC after he basically spat in his face...the same dude that has had everyone from former players to people that most would consider not worth his time say nothing but great things about him...was faking it all along. I'm not saying JT is a saint. I'm not even saying he didn't fuck up. I just believe...not because I want to...but because it's what I have to...that his motivation was above winning at all costs. If any coach in tOSU history could afford a shitty season, it was JT. I mean, what's the worst that could have happened had they been suspended last year? Bring them all back as seniors with a favorable schedule for yet another run at the MNC?

Sorry for the long winded post. Just kinda thinkin' out loud. Maybe this isn't the thread for it, and I'm not trying to rile anyone up (for once :p)...just a feeling and train of thought I can't shake.

I agree that everything we know about Tressel and what he has done should let us believe he had the best intentions. Unfortunately, I think many feel that it's what we didn't know about him might be just as important. Sucks.

What I do know about JT far outweighs what I may not have possibly known.

I guess that's where the disagreement lies. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until it's proven I was naive. Others are entitled to believe the worst based on circumsantial evidence, but I just can't. The crazy thing is that if he turns out to be Satan, it's odd the NCAA didn't find anything the last time they crawled up his ass

I'm of the mindset that you can be both- an "honorable" man (in Osborne's words) who made a really really huge mistake.

Agreed. I'm not denying a mistake was made, but rather the intentions. I also understand that good intentions would not satisfy some. Again, understandable. I just hope we end up learning what his intentions were. JT knew the rules. A run at an NC with juniors doesn't seem a likely incentive when he also knows how deep the NCAA probes. Especially coming from someone that has embraced the tradition, HS coaches, and the state of Ohio like JT has. Just doesn't add up to me.
