Speaking of less than intelligent yahoos...look what our local asshole has to say.

... isn't it only a matter of time before Jim Tressel resigns at Ohio State and former Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer takes over?

I am convinced of it.
I have some oceanfront property in Nevada I'd like to discuss with this guy. Have him call me soonest.

I mean, call me crazy/naive...but am I the only one that thinks this is more than just a pipe-dream? I mean, I didn't read the article, because I'm going to assume it's not much more than a mix of articles I've read about Tressel on the out and Urban on the in, but is it really that stupid to think that this is possible? I guess I must be a sheeple.

I think Urban will coach OSU one day, it just won't have anything to do with this incident.

I love Urban. I think he gave us his all. He DID get us two NCs. But he is a burn out. He cannot take a head coaching spot. Florida burned him out...try tOSU and The Game and having to prove himself again and again that he is not burned out, and that he really meant it when he said he had to stop coaching at UF, but now all is better - let along win over the fans who remember Glendale and do not think fondly of him.

No chance, None. Zip. Nada. Gator nation would be very angry and resentful if he did.

If the article is drawing a directly line between the two then yea, I think that's fantasy. But if this whole situation pushes Tressel out, I can only imagine that the prologue to a new era has extreme [strike]foreshawdoing[/strike]* foreshadowing of the Urban variety. I would be on board, but I'd probably have to permanently put Gator on ignore if it ever were to happen.

Should we start discussing the difference between public perception and "Gator nation" perception?

Oh - I'm sure there would be Gator homers holding on to all kinds of preposterous [Mark May] who'd get upset about it no matter what happened ....but that would not change the actual national public perspective.

That stands alone no matter what we Gators think.

Unless you changed the rule about not bashing coaches, my presence would not be a problem for long Sloop.

Just give it a motherfucking rest already. No one in Buckeye Nation, ESPECIALLY in this thread, give a corn filled shit what would make Gator nation resentful and angry. Just go post in the OD for awhile. Every other fucking post in this thread is yours. Just give a little elbow room homeslice.

You and Urban should consider yourselves warned, motherfuckers.

I wasn't that keen on the Urban to tOSU possibility, but now I might have to reconsider.

GPA.

I don't think we can have it both ways. One side is saying the man clearly shamed himself and Ohio State to the point that he should be fired while a distinctly smaller subset of that group is saying his impact on the university isn't anything special.

I don't think that's logical in the least. Either he has had a positive impact in the past on the university at large or what he does doesn't matter at all in the grand scheme of things.

Well, it's kind of in the middle. In the end, for fundraising purposes, it doesn't matter what the public at large thinks at all...it matters what (rich) OSU alumni donors think, of course. So if Joe Dokes the Oklahoma State alum thinks Tressel is a poopyhead, that may signify that the university's image to the public at large has taken a hit, but it won't affect the bottom line. The divisions amongst Buckeye Nation, however, make it obvious that there will be an impact.
