Pretty cold, especially since the HVAC guys that I called out a week ago to just do a routine tune-up on my furnaces (we have two due to having four levels in our 1/2 duplex) managed to short out the one that heats the second (where the bedrooms are) and third floors and won't have it fixed (due to parts availability) until tomorrow. Fortunately, cranking the basement/ground floor furnace up has kept the 2d floor only a few degrees below the usual 65.

I feel your pain as the same thing happened to us. Bottom floor furnace has been out since Friday.

jesus christ!
high today was 34°

HIGH OF 34°
on the Louisiana coast

slight chance of snow/wintry mix in the next hour or so.

this is fucking ridiculous

Are you at home for this one? Last time it snowed, you were out to sea, were you not? It does look like there's a potential for a storm all down the coast this week-end, too.

Anyway, I wouldn't complain about being two degrees above freezing, if I were you.

yep, home for this one.
didn’t happen though, actually all stayed south of us.
the platform in the gulf where i was for last one got some flurries today.

and while i’m not in anyway comparing our temps to y’all, i’m on the damn gulf coast!
34° is supposed to be a LOW temp for us.
and one where we never actual get to the low, just say it to freak people out a bit.

we NOT supposed to have 3 straight nights of hard freezes.
supposed to hit 23 tonight/morning

sub freezing temps still.
calling for light snow until 5am (none falling right now) and i’m on my way to do a hydrotest.

for those unfamiliar with the term, we use WATER to test the integrity of pipe.

WATER. at temperatures below the freezing point of water.
this is gonna be fun.

Yup, damn cold here in Chicago but nothing that we've not dealt with before. Maybe a bit earlier this year than recent winters, but within some level of expectation.

Does look like the rest of you guys, especially in Dixie are getting way more than you typically bargain for. Sorry to hear that, they don't construct down there like we do up here and I'm sure it's miserable.

Yeah, don't they still have a lot of houses in the south that were not built with a furnace? I've had trouble getting the temp right here in Ohio with a gas furnace, a space heater, and occasionally, the oven. brrrrr
