Snow Blower
A snow blower used in areas where snow can't be pushed back anymore. CDOT mainly uses snow blowers in the high country, especially along mountain passes.

These beasts are massive and scary when seen head on! The auger is as tall as a SUV! Of course, right now we're in a DROUGHT so even places like Wolf Creek Pass and Red Mountain Pass don't have much snow.

Depends if it's Texas-Style (sorry, I always need some sort of beans in my chili).

Bush's brand kidney and black beans, onion, green pepper, garlic, tomatoes I dehydrated & froze from my garden last year, and "ground beef" from Morningstar Farms. Still debating about adding beer to this batch or not.

I like how parents are pissed when we don't have school because they-gasp!-have to take care of them.

If there's no stay-at-home parent, I understand it can be a problem, esp. if one doesn't get perks on their job like personal days that they still get paid for, so they can indulge in little luxuries like rent and heat and food.

One memorable occasion was when there was an ice storm coming in. It seemed apparent to me that it was going to start early. But, not so much for the school board. They had school anyway. (They did, we didn't.) So what happened? Early, like by noon, the freezing rain started, and it was OMG! OMG! OMG! We have to get the kids home! Get the buses! Notify all the parents--the kids are coming home early! Leave work and drive across town on the ice-covered roads to pick them up!

Needless to say, the kid never had a gold medal for a perfect attendance record. Has done just fine without it, btw. (Her birthday today, actually.)

Anyway, it gives me fits when people act like it's up to someone else to decide what they should do with their children. Didn't there used to be some slogan or other about living in the Land of the Free? Can't they make up their own minds without getting some "authority's" permission?
