How does work make you feel today?

$10,000 software really ought to be able to do what it's supposed to do. Ridiculous. Communist pigdog goatfucking douchecanoes.

Wow. Not working at all today. Awesome.

Might get a couple things done in a different program and knock off at 5. Call it a half day. :pimp:

Lately, work sucks. For some reason my employer deems it necessary to block everything they think might be even remotely related to sports during the NCAA tourney. Apparently some idiot apparatchik somewhere read some article that spouted off about how much productivity is lost every year due to March Madness, and their solution is to block everything.

I'm not more productive at work because HuskerBoard and Buckeye Planet are blocked. I just spend my down time elsewhere. I get the same amount done, I still make my goals every month and quarter, and overall not much has changed. I just don't get to hang out at my favorite sites at work right now.

So.... work is boring right now. For about another two weeks.

But then I'll be back. And there will be much rejoicing.

Oh man, I am soooo glad I don't have to put up with that bullshit anymore. Used to work for ODOT, talk about being locked down from sports/shopping/banking/trading/everythingnotgovernmentrelated sites. Sheesh!

I am one of our network guys now (among a ton of other duties), and our company doesn't care about what people do as long they get work done and keep our clients happy. Makes for a nicer work environment.

That's really all that should matter, isn't it? If your work is getting done (and mine always is), I'd like to see a little lenience in web browsing year-'round, not this lockdown nonsense.

Stupid thing is, I can still get to Reddit, Facebook, Amazon, Wikipedia, and about a million other sites (probably including porn sites, but I haven't checked), but sports?!?!? Ohhh, HELL NO!!!

Gah.

But then, I'm the idiot who works there. So who's really at fault? C'est moi.

fuckin pissed....

I'm at a local tennis center, and there's a new management company that came in at the beginning of the year ( I was good friends with the people that used to run it). Well beginning of this month I decided to go back and work there and work on the courts. Well, it's fuckin miserable here. Courts are awful, they don't do anything about it, and today the head guy gets pissed at me because I was sitting there waiting for a lesson to finish up. God forbid he's gotta pay me an extra dollar for the 15 minutes I wasted waiting

A gut-wrenching mixture of resignation, misery, and murderous rage. One of our grad students just successfully defended his PhD, and one of our faculty congratulated him by asking how it feels to "not be one of the stupid people anymore." Maybe I'm a bit sensitive to these things, but that guy is completely inept (he actually managed to spend his entire year's budget in 6 months a couple years ago), and he's labeling everyone without a PhD "stupid"?

I'm sick of that attitude of superiority I constantly get from the majority of the PhDs around here, half of whom graduated from the Mickey Mouse school of science in some third-world shithole where success is determined by your parents' wealth or social class. One stunning example was a postdoc with whom I worked a couple years ago. Every time I made a suggestion to him, he'd tell me to leave thinking to those who are qualified. He had a PhD in molecular virology. He had also never heard of molarity, which was pretty much all you needed to know to survive high school chemistry. You see, he never had to take chemistry, because he was there to study viruses, not chemicals. Obviously.

And all the salary and expenses are coming from your tax dollars. Woo!
