How does work make you feel today?

Hate to follow into such a scintillating discussion about Mark [Mark May] May. But I'll try not to lower the discussion, much....

Feel great about work. Just got my release from my contract, and can officially retire. I'd do it again, but don't wish to do it any more. So, I will play golf, come home, have a hot tub, nap, and then start on the evenings wine before dinner.

Soooooo, will not be able to comprehend about how tough it is, or how boring it is, or how stressful.....BP was 118/58 for the first time in decades......hope that it lasts for another 30 years......

Love being back in Florida and back in the parks. Having a quota-driven job is very different for me, along with the fact my role doesn't do much in the way of "typical" park guest service, which is nice but very different than what I'm used to. But hey, I get to carry around a tablet, take my breaks when I feel like it, and am no longer tied down to our crappy deployment system!

Makes me feel like I'm about done bidding internally... it might be time to say 'fuck loyalty' and jump ship. This place put $20,000 toward my MBA, and I want to stay here and repay their investment, but they're not making it easy.

Internal candidates here are permitted to bid on three positions at a time. Average time to clear a bid is 6-8 weeks. Since I've already been told to find something else, this is a problem.

I'm also being told not to bid on anything more than two paygrades above where I am now because there's no way they'll let me jump that far. Problem is, researchers are on such shitty payscales that two paygrades above my current job (which requires an MS in molecular biology plus experience) would have me--a holder of two master's degrees with 8 years' management experience--scheduling meetings, doing filing, and making copies for an assistant administrator/entry-level manager--who has a bachelor's degree in business and 1-3 years' experience. Fuck. That.

Then again... I'm getting to the point that I'll just have to swallow my pride and do it.

Just found out that the 'perfect' position I've been waiting on (and on which I bid the first week of January) is on indefinite hold because they just realized that they need to hire a boss for the position before they can fill it. Apparently, they screened the applications and forwarded them to... nobody.

Solid work, HR!
