Heisman 2012 vBet and discussion

Aaron Craft's defense also can not shown in a box score doesn't mean he isn't the best on ball defender in the country.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo not relevant.

Because 1 player in a different sport does things that don't show up in the stat line, we should give the award to best player in CFB to a guy who disappeared for at least an entire month?

it's an insult to people like Suh, honey badger, and Orlando Pace that Teo was even invited.

If you don't want to believe the two missed tackles all season then don't but I think that is more impressive than anything Manziel has done. To go along with that he had 7 ints. What else should the guy have done? Also was the heart and soul of the best defense in the country.

Here's an interesting thought. Fuck Te'o even if he were the greatest defensive player in the history of the game. He lost my vote the day he signed a LOI to Notre Dame. I'm happy he fucking lost. I'm happy that ND didn't break the all-time Heisman tie with us and USC. Fuck Notre Dame.

What is this two missed tackles stat? He is a great defender, does that mean he earns the right to win a heisman because he missed two tackles? I can name 3 defensive players in the last decade who are more deserving than him to win a heisman.

Who are they and who won the heisman their year?

The missed tackle stat to me shows he made every play he possibly could have. I mean how many times have we seen Shazier miss a tackle and the other teams goes down the field and scores?

obviously the guy dropped into coverage more than the LBs who have much better stats. that explains the excessive INTs (2 of which a 5 year old could have caught because they were thrown right to him, 1 of which wasn't actually an INT) and it explains why his sacks and TFL are so low. so big fucking deal.....he only missed 2 tackles. does that mean he wasn't in on as many tackles because he dropped in to coverage so much? could be. "only 2 missed tackles" only says the plays that went to him were only missed twice. he can go an entire quarter without having to actually do anything. can a QB?

I'm not saying defensive players shouldn't win the Heisman.....but come on. his stats are so comparable to so many other LBs this year. he doesn't stand out AT ALL other than his grandmother and girlfriend dying in the same week, and the fact that he plays for ND. THOSE AREN'T REASONS TO GIVE SOMEBODY THE HEISMAN.

I get it. Gimmick offenses rule and fundamental defense is lost.

Offense is always going to win the Top prize. I love me some defense (2002 in particular) but O is always the big influence. Te'o is a great college player but I wouldn't vote him over Braxton, let alone the other finalists. Gimmicks or no, stats are easier kept on O than D (seriously someone counted how missed tackles he had, gimme a break).

let's expound on that "only missed 2 tackles" nonsense. if he only missed 2......WHY ARE HIS TACKLE NUMBERS SO LOW??????

Notre Dame defense has been on the field for the 3rd least amount of plays.

Or because he gets pushed out of the play or allows himself to be out of position sometimes.
