Heisman 2012 vBet and discussion

It would have been a joke if anyone else won.

This isn't a [censored]ing sympathy award.

Te'O might not be a top 5 LB in the country.

That may be true and I don't recall ever stating that Te'O should win. I think Manziel won because of his performance against Bama.....

Manziel played 3 quality teams and he fell flat against 2 of them. Let's not act like his SEC schedule was a juggernaut.

Not saying it was. But it's better than Keenum going up against Conference USA teams all year. Don't get me wrong, Manziel's numbers were very solid, but not eye-popping. Te'o's numbers just never really registered with me at all.

Just another chapter in the shittiest season in my college football lifetime.

Of all the great freshman seasons in the history of the game, this is the one that got a stiffarm trophy?

The Heisman Trophy is now a survival competition - they start with a list of candidates and it narrows one by one as each player experiences some moment of imperfection. Nobody was even scrutinizing Manziel until the last month. Plenty of other players were dropped from consideration for having better games than the one he posted at home vs. LSU, but nobody noticed it at the time.

The other side of that coin though is that I think this means that he hardly threatens Archie Griffin's standing. From now on, people will be paying attention to him from the start of the season and any future Heisman candidacies by Manziel should be torpedoed the moment he sneezes.

Which I think shows how overrated Manziel's stats are.
Breaking the all-time SEC total yardage record in overrated?

Yes because who do you think was the better player Vince or Manziel?
It's not the "player" but the "performance". Manziel outperformed everyone this year. You can't determine one year's winner by comparing to a previous winner.

Wow, the Heisman is officially a joke....one season wonders c'mon down....
JFC, how is it a "joke" if the give it to the right person? And since the Heisman is given for a season and not a career, previous (or in Manziel's case, future) season mean jack shit. Lastly, just how can Manziel be a "one season wonder" when this is his first season?

Well here's a stat that was never mentioned. Te'o missed two tackles all year. Going against guys like Leveon Bell, Denard Robinson, Silas Redd, Marquise Lee, and Duke Johnson to name a few. That's someone who is nearly perfect on every play.

This. Now, I know it's difficult to give the Heisman to a defensive player, but I guess I'm in the minority. I think Suh should have won the award a few years ago, I think Te'o should have won the award this year (given the finalists). Oh well, nothing holding any Buckeyes back next year. There might be 3 players on the Buckeyes fighting for Heisman stats.

That is also a very misleading stat...who decides the factors of a missed tackle?
