HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

His only bad hire? You mean Parker Flemming... right guys?
Maybe I'm just trying to erase his name from my memory permanently, or I just forget because he was special teams. Doesn't seem important until it really is.

That was atrocious, but Day also corrected that one relatively quickly. I would've nixed him halfway through last season, but I don't think it was feasible at that point. We just had to ride with it and ax him after the season.

Ranking the top 25 Power Four college football coaches entering the 2024 season

The CBS Sports and 247Sports experts have ranked every Power Four coach from 1-68 as the season approaches

Ryan Day: I'm not the only one who finds this mildly humorous, am I? Ohio State failed to beat Michigan or win the Big Ten for the third straight season in 2023. It missed out on the College Football Playoff, too. Yet Day climbs six spots to No. 2, ahead of a coach with two national titles to his name. I don't say this as a way to denigrate Day. If you have him outside your top five, I'd question your sanity, but the fact he climbs to the top two this year with the way things have been going in Columbus is cruel irony. Of course, Ohio State is all-in on the 2024 season and has wrecked shop in the transfer portal. There's a very real chance Day could add a national title to his resume this year. 2023 rank: 8 (+6)

Fleming got a two year guaranteed extension in March 2023 with a pay bump from 300k to 500k when he should have been released. I don't see how that qualifies as fixing the problem relatively quickly.

And some fans here think throwing a million dollars in a trash can doesn't matter since football is a revenue sport but that money could have been put to better use for the football program or donated to a local children's hospital for good karma or kickstarted a women's kite flying team or cut up into confetti for our next national championship parade.

Ohio State football coach Ryan Day adds to bonus total after team's academic achievement

Ohio State coach Ryan Day is due to add to his bonus total as a result of his team’s academic performance.

The Buckeyes earned a 3.24 grade point average over the past academic year, triggering a bonus worth $50,000 for Day, a school spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.

.
Under the terms of a provision in Day’s contract, as obtained by The Dispatch through a public records request, he is due a $50,000 bonus if the Buckeyes compile at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA over the fall and spring semesters.

The academic bonus owed to Day doubles if the team GPA reaches 3.3 and increases to as much as $150,000 for a 3.5 mark.

Is it truly natty or bust for the Ohio State football team?

Going into the season there are a ton of factors that have made fans start to believe it's a National Championship or bust for Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team. Is it true?

With creating one of the best college football rosters in recent history and coming off three straight losses to Michigan, many fans have been saying it's national championship-or-bust in 2024 for the Ohio State football team. But is it really? I mean would Ryan Day really lose his job if he beats Michigan but ends up losing the Championship, or maybe not even make it there? Or could what fans really mean is it's beat Michigan or bust?

Even with the team the Buckeyes have if Day beats Michigan but doesn't win the Championship he's going to keep his job. It's the same thing the other way around, if he wins the Championship but loses to Michigan he also will keep his job. All Ryan Day has to do is not make dumb choices and just let his team play because they have plenty of talent.

The Ohio State football team has a great shot to win it all, thankfully for Day.

The feeling on campus and in Columbus says it is a make or break year, unfortunately.
Well it is. But what's make it I guess is the question? To me, beat ttun, win the B1G. Then a playoff run in a new expanded playoff. I want a title and even as good as this team, I don't expect it. But the aforementioned beating ttun and winning the conference has to happen this year for Day. His chips are pushed to the middle of the table knowing that imo.
