HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

He seems to lack emotional intelligence. He gets a 70 yard TD pass. What would Urban Meyer do? Punch the air, run and grab them coming off the field. Day seems somewhat unemotional. If he does not begin to lead this team emotionally on game day, they are going to lose at least 3 games.

Idk if you always need emotion like that, especially in a game against YSU. I’d actually be looking at him strange if he was pumped about MHjr getting a 70yd TD. He should be doing that against a team like this. heck, he should’ve been able to do this against IU as well. I would like to see him reserve his emotion for the game against ND, and The Game of course.
Many HCs are stoic during the game(matter of fact I see Saban yelling at the players after they score all the time, keeps them from being complacent)

He’s probably pissed knowing that he has more talent than anyone on his schedule and if the man in the mirror doesn’t fix things ASAP, he’s going to get a third consecutive “fails to meet” review from his employer.

The guy who hired him is retiring next year, too. This isn't the time to make a bad impression.

Also Urban was all about evolving the offense and defense. He would bring in coordinators with a different style on both sides of the ball and see if they could mesh with what was existing there. New things were always being added or modified every season to keep teams guessing. It didn't always work but he seem to have the ability to fall back on a previous working model.

It just feels like at least on offense, Days offense is what the offense will be. I see very little to evolve it or to be creative. He needs a coordinator to come in and push the thinking with this offense. Im not saying it's broken but it's stale and that makes it predictable because of the years of tape of Day doing the same stuff.

Yeah I don't agree at all. His offense always reverted back to his base scheme and held the team back in big games and after Herman left.

Directly after the game on BTN he said they need to get off the field on defense.

Last week he acknowledged the short yardage 3rd and 4th down issues to keep the ball.

He knows he’s not blameless.
Oh, I‘m certain he knows. The last thing any good leader does when his organization underperforms, however, is blame factors outside the organization‘s control.

It reverted in 2015 and 2016 because Warinner and Beck weren't the guys to try to evolve the offense. Beck was just a huge downgrade from Herman. Wilson and Day come in 2017 they definitely changes to the offense for the better. The problem is that once Day was HC the Urban offense was phased out and nothing has be implemented to contrast his offensive style.

Yeah, he brought in Tim Beck, Greg Schiano, Alex Grinch, Bill Davis and Ed Wariner(OL coach great, OC BAD). Not sure how any of these were positives, and they all collectively cost this program a minimum of 2 NCs: 2015 and 2018 definitely, and 2017 possibly.
Urban began stagnant and stubborn after the NC, and began hiring his buddies instead of the best, most qualified hires. And even when they failed, he doubled down and kept them on the staff and even promoted some. Day has shown to be the exact opposite. He will can a guy in a year, to bring in a better option. But he’s so predictable in his playcalling at times, and tends to be predictable at bad times. I thought he had a similar offensive mind to Herman at one time, but it seems like he’s wound too tight and isn’t the best at delegating. A lot of pressure at a place like OSU, but the 1st 3 games should’ve been a perfect time to let Hartline run the offense, IMO

Coach, you were 5-12 on third down. Your FCS opponent was 7-15. The clock is the least of your worries.

They just don’t look nasty enough. Maybe I sound like an old guy yelling at a cloud but I just don’t see the aggression or ferocity on either side. Talent is great and all but good god man no one looks like they just want to destroy someone except for a select few.
