HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

All I want is more rushing yards than Michigan based on past history. More yards rushing = win

Devin Brown can add a good bit to that total so I’ll select him. I think the offense has chance to be a bit different this year. I think rushing really takes a step forward based on the makeup of the team. Rather than chunking it to two first rounders every play I think you will see timely passes to those cats while grinding it out late (beating teams down). Alot of play action feeding off the run. Very similar to 2019 version of bucks. Including the defense being similar to 2019. I think this team has a chance with the right breaks….

Personally I want the starter to begin getting 90% of reps with the ones soon. I get that you want the backup to be prepared, but at some point prep for game 1 and beyond has to be the most important thing.
Typically agree with you on every post, but I am ok leaving the battle open here until closer to game time. Hear me out though.

McCord has played live games and is very talented. If Brown is the shit, then he'll make it work with his skill position guys. My biggest concern is the OL coming together to block whoever it is, because if that happens then this team can't be stopped.

Most years I would be concerned on getting the starting reps to QB1 right now. But not this year. We're going to be set at QB and just need the right OL to block. And of course the defense to step up, but I digress into another thread. I say that after realizing I am in Ryan Day's thread. I trust Ryan Day with all things related to QB.

This kind of proves he was born on 3rd base.
Maybe. But it's every bit as hard to continue the success that Urban started. I always remember a quote about Phil Jackson, that it's harder to win with the talent he had due to the immense pressure they had.
So yes, an argument can be made that he was "born on 3rd base". But the fact that OSU has been able to sustain the current level of success through 3 coaches is a testament to the coaches and they've been able to run their programs.

This joke is losing traction every year. He has maintained the standard of excellence. Other more proven coaches have failed in less time at powerhouse programs (Rodriguez at TTUN is one example). Besides the COVID year he has delivered 11 wins every season.
Schools like UGA, Bama and OU should have far more consecutive ranked seasons than OSU, due to talent in state or their proximity to elite talent. The 3rd base argument is laughable IMO, because Day could've taken OSU off of a cliff and not many would've been surprised due to immense pressure from a first time HC. Hairball should've had scUM at CFP level from the jump and he didn't, so his 3rd base argument is needed for his own validation

Make no mistake. This is a make or break year for Day with the fanbase. Bludgeoned by your rival in consecutive seasons despite being exponentially more talented is not a sustainable business model.
meh....the real make or break season is next year with the new AD. Losing the loud ones in his fanbase isn't a big deal. A lot of people want to beat scUM, but also appreciate the 11 wins a season this dude is cranking out. Right or wrong.

Wrong. :sneaky: ”11 win appreciation“ isn’t a goal of the program. Maybe a new AD changes the goals of the program, but certainly not if Pat gets the job, which I hope he does. Good friend during my OSU tenure. Three consecutive ”fails to meet” reviews at Day’s comp level is not a recipe for success. If anyone needs a reminder, those three goals are beat ttun, win the B1G, win it all.

I wonder what the years of collecting so much talent at QB and WR under Urbs and Day did to the recruiting at other positions, particularly at offensive line and linebacker.
