HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Just looking back at some of the comments after last year's TTUN debacle, and I'm quoting you because the same comment could be made today.

After the opening script was exhausted the Buckeyes scored one touchdown the rest of the day. Red zone? 4 trips produced a total of 6 points. :bonk:
Wow…Well fuck. Who knew a year later I’d be able to say the same thing. Nice find even if that hurts.

Which is why the best case scenario is him doing what needs to be done to address play calling, either let Kevin Wilson take over or bring someone new in and let them take over.

I think they need someone that has a better idea with run concepts. Day's passing concepts work but his run concepts are lacking. I think it goes beyond playcalling and more to the overall scheme of the offense. Day isn't being challenged to evolve his offense from within. He took an offense with alot of run concepts from when Urban was HC and took them out in favor of passing concepts.

The hybrid is basically the prime example of this. Xavier Johnson would have been ideal to plug into the hybrid role if that was still a position in this offense. Instead he was getting limited opportunities as another WR in a sea of really good talent. He got a couple gadget plays here and there but nothing to impact the offense.

Urban would have insisted on having Stroud run throughout these two seasons to just have him ready for that game that he couldn't pass. Day was perfectly fine with Strouds reluctance to run.

This offense has nothing to turn to with the run when our RBs and o-line aren't cooking.

We “cleaned house” last year.

We basically had a new defensive staff.
So we won’t make changes there nor will any of those assistants be attractive to other teams.

The defense blew goats today.

I game into the year thinking this offense would be like LSU’s in the Burrow year.
Not close.
We got nothing out of JSN or Treveyon. 2 guys I was counting on to be all-American level.

The rest of our RB’s are mediocre.

I think our pass game sucks.
We just don’t guys open regularly.
We don’t use any depth despite have a handful of 4 stars sitting on the bench.

Stroud had all day today. Apparently nobody was getting open.

Too often our pass game relies on a sublime pass and catch from Marvin.

We seem to lack elite speed on offense and defense.

I love CJ but I’ve always loved a qb that make something happen with their feet. It rips the heart out of a defense and opens up the run game.
Alas we chose McCord over McCarty and Riola makes Rothlisberger in his last year look like Lamar.

A personal side note- I could go without the constant references about “toughness” every press conference. Stow it.

It was all there for us today. Perfect weather, Corum out, playoff bid and heisman and the line and we shit ourselves.

Fucking disastrous. More disappointing than last year.

I know Marriotti is above reproach but we need to look at why so many guys are missing games.

The Larry Coker comparison is one I haven't thought of and is quite chilling honestly.

I don't think Day is that bad, though. I think he'll recruit and coach well enough to keep the program at a pretty high level, but will spit the bit in the big time games.

Day is kind of the 180 of Urban. Urban's teams would seem to lose a head scratcher each year but were pretty much money in big games. Day beats who he should, but his teams play tight in big games.

Day looks tight on the sideline in big games. He looked nervous early and worse in the second half. I can't imagine that helps players who are doubting themselves.
