Hey man, I'll admit it, she was a hell of a singer.

Seen her latest album cover, it's a personal pic.

For that era and that generation that listens to that style Rock N Roll, he was a huge loss and had a degree of social impact. Especially given the violent and tragic way he died and the situation was somewhat similar to Lennon in that it was a disturbed fan that blamed him for the breakup of Pantera. You can't discount someone just because you don't like or follow that style of music. To me personally Jerry Garcia listed is ridiculous.
I'm discounting him because he hasn't come close to influencing musicians in the same manner as my pick, Hendrix or... Garcia, for that matter. Admittedly, I'm a dead head, but Garcia has influenced thousands more guitar players than Dimebag ever will. A thrash metal guitarist is a dime a dozen these days. Nothing Dimebag did was remotely innovative. Could he play? You bet. Was he something special? Not in the least.

To the Stevie Ray fans, I had to write him in myself. He was in NONE of the top 50 dead rocker lists I found.

Shit, Rick James

and the Dead Bee Gee was listed before him.

I'm a huge Pantera fan, and was very upset when Dimebag was killed, at the Alrosa no less. That said, I cannot honestly think of any "social impact" created by Pantera and Dime-they lived to drink, party, and make the most kick-ass metal music ever-and that's about it.

But did he create that genre? or was it Uria Heep, Judas Preist, Megadeath of Metalica?

If he was the dude that started Speed Metal style, big props and should have at least made the list. If not, then he was just another player that rocked hard.

Just another player that rocked hard...

A few other names not to forget:
Otis Redding
Sam Cooke
Keith Moon (drummer for The Who)
