Crabtree said there should be five Glenville players capable of signing with Big Ten schools this season, led by linebacker Jermale Hines. He also likes receiver Kyle Jefferson, defensive end Eric Thomas, recent transfer linebacker LeBron Daniel and cornerback Otis Merrill.

Nice estimate by Crabtree. Those five plus Bruce Davis will end up in the Big 10.

Glenville continuing a successful OSU connection

Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus -- The Glenville-Ohio State football legacy continued this season with the passing of the couch.

The red sofa formerly lounged upon by OSU receiver and Glenville grad Ted Ginn Jr. is now the centerpiece of the off-campus apartment occupied by sophomores Robert Rose and Ray Small, two of the six Glenville High grads on the 2007 OSU roster.

"We got a couple of other things from Ted, too," Rose said. "A TV, a trash can, a couple of bins to put things in. And his picture is all over my locker. He was just a great guy and he taught me a lot when he was here."

I have a question about Glenville.... Is all there talent from just the school's area or do they go out and find some talent from around Cleveland and get them to come to the school? If they are legit that is pretty impressive to have the type of talent they do on the reg.

The way the Cleveland public school kinda works is that kids can attend any of the schools, and most athletes go to Glenville...There has been talk about recruiting from local schools, like St. Eds and what not, but I think most of it is just the reputation that Glenville has built for getting kids to college for football...

Hopefully Trotwood can take the same approach Glenville has with bringing in kids. Maybe it would be easier for the Rams if kids could choose their school also. Even though one of are scUM kids got found ineligible, it still sucks to see it happen to my Rams. All the more respect for Glenville now, I thought they pretty much did things the same way.

Glenville does do things much the same way. They most definitely actively recruit players to their school. It is common knowledge throughout high school football circles in the greater Cleveland area. What TGS does is great for Ohio State, but he's not helping kids the way people think he is. Many of the Glenville players come from suburban high schools or even private schools. Don't get me wrong, I think its great that he is keeping some inner-city kids out of the street by putting them on a football field, but Glenville does not play by the same rules as everyone else...

Not helping ??? Would you mind naming a school (especially public) in Ohio that has sent as many kids to college on football/track scholarships as Ginn has in his time at Glenville.

Kids gravitate to programs like Glenville because of the success. Ginn does not need to recruit, they flock to the program because they can get exposure the program gets which is a dirrect result of years of Ginn doing everything he could do to get colleges to look at his athletes.

There are public schools like Glenville all over the country that draw talent in like Miami Northwestern, Long Beach Poly, Massilon, McKinley and many more.

So.. Lets pretend your a athletic 15 year old Cleveland kid. Do you want to attend Glenville , Adams or John Marshall ?

Now let's pretend you're an athletic 18-year old currently attending St. Edward, Benedictine, or University School. Do you transfer to a poorly performing (academically) inner-city school without any provocation? I don't think so.

If I have D-1 potential and my grades are already in order?

With as little as one year of eligibility left, in a heartbeat.
