Texas better start working on their kicking game and special teams or they are gonna be in serious trouble in columbus. The had a KO return for a TD, blocked punt, and their punters averaged 30 and 32 yards per punt. Mack Brown better WTFU and get that together or OSU will be scoring double digits on special teams.

Good point. I don't think shoddy kick and punt coverage is something you want to bring in against OSU this year.

let me put it this way,

you boot one 50 yards downfield to give Ginn a chance to return it, which obviously could lead to a touchdown.

you boot one 30 yards downfield(shitty kick) but dont give him a chance to return it.

im not saying its a good idea, but it is a train of thought.

I figured that was what you meant. I think the term "outkick" your coverage would usually be used to describe the first situation (the 50 yard boot). Imade up the term "underkick" your coverage (usually, it would just be called a crappy punt), but I guess you could apply it to the 30 yard punt, if done intentionally. If I were going to go that route though, I'd probably just kick the ball out of bounds and avoid any possiblity of a return.

thats the best idea but its hard to control a punt like that, it makes it alot easier to shank, and if your already trying to kick it out of bounds and you shank it that would make an unbelievably shitty point. if your a browns fan picture derek frost against the ravens.

KO Return - 1st return team against scout team (3rd string & walkons), in a routine performance Mack always does. As I reported previously The first team kick unit allowed one return to the 13 and the other kick was beyond the end zone.

Blocked Punt - Didn't Happen

Blocked Kick - Did Happen - 1st team Kick defense versus 2nd team kick offense, but they do need work.

Punters Average - One is a freshman fighting consistency problems. The other is trying to win the kicking job (may have succeeded) and has lost a little consistency punting due to lack of practice. McGee will average about 40 yards a kick as he has the past two seasons.

Sorry, no double digit special teams scoring for tOSU.

First, thanks to gregory for bringing back GOTP. I have not been very good about posting pictures of scantily clad women. Apologies.

A couple pages ago, someone said something about an All Texas-Ohio State team.

Here's what I came up with:

QB: VY
RB: Pittman
RB: Ramonce Taylor (so much youth, it's hard to pick just these two. Guess I could have just as easily put Selvin Young and Haw or Wells)
TE: David Thomas
T: Jon Scott
G: Will Allen
C: Mangold
G: Garcia
T: Blalock
WR: Holmes
WR: Ginn

DE: Tim Crowder
DE: Kudla
DT: Rod Wright
DT: Frank Okam
SLB: Hawk
WLB: Carpenter
MLB: Harris (picking between him and Schlegel is like splitting hairs. I'm a homer so Harris gets it)
CB: Youbooty
CB: Ced Griffin
S: Salley
S: Huff (It's my list, I can pick two strong safeties if I want)

PR: Ginn
KR: Ginn, Holmes
K: tOSU's super-super senior. forget his name
P: Based on UT practice reports, I'll give it to tOSU's without even knowing anything about him

This team would be scary good. All of them will probably end up getting drafted on the first day of the draft. It also helps that UT's strengths are tOSU's weaknesses (for the most part) and vice versa.

The one weakness (if you can call it that) would have to be RB. Both teams have plenty of potential but little experience.

Second string would look pretty damn good too.

I didn't say blocked kick I said punt. I know I didn't watch it but every Texas fan and write up has said Texas special teams sucks!!! I don't care if its two true freshmen that are kicking 30 yards a punt They are what you have. Don't try to downplay how bad your kickers are.

Your kicking coverage is a major problem. Go to both the insiders and rival boards a read comments from your fans. I'm not making it up I'm just relaying info to my fellow Buckeyes.

Yes we are going to score double-digits on special teams. Unlike Texas we have kickers that can make 55 yrad FG's. Our back-up kicker Ryan Petorious kicked a 55 yarder yesterday and our kickers were 4-4 on the day.

I predict a blocked punt, Ginn will return at least 1 for a TD, and probably 3-4 FG's. I'd say thats at least 10+:roll2:

Interesting to note that between both these ball clubs there is no real beast at DE. This could be the potential downfall of either of these clubs beating a USC type team. A DLinemen that can consistently rush the passer off the edge without having to use a lb or db. Both of our secondaries are solid, but against an efficient offense like SC that picks up the blitz well, we both could be in trouble. I hope UT finds a real playmaker on the edge this year. Hopefully you guys will too, after the 10th of course!!

Precisely, and there was not a single blocked punt during our scrimmage yesterday, so I have no idea where that comes from.

I don't know why so many Texas posters are upset about the special teams. The longest return in the scrimmage against the first team was a 13 yard kickoff return. If we do similarly in Ohio I'll be very pleased.

It is true that you may score 3 or 4 field goals...


while we're scoring TDs.
