I think a thread-merge explains why I just read a bunch of this for the second time. :!osugrad21 said:Why not use the already running UT/tOSU thread??

hookem, I believe he meant the La-Laf and Miami games, respectively. He wasn't taking a shot at the 'horns, that game's 3 weeks away.hookemhorns2004 said:

Right you are. Point remains the same.BB73 said:Also, note to BKB - There was 2:18 left after Gamble's alleged non-catch on the sideline. Just for the sake of accuracy. :)

AUSTIN – Texas coaches are so high on freshman tailbacks Jamaal Charles and Henry Melton, it appears they could share time with junior Selvin Young so that UT can keep sophomore Ramonce Taylor in a utility role.
Right now, Young appears to be the favorite to replace Cedric Benson. But Young rushed for only 5 yards on two carries in minimal action during Saturday's scrimmage. Young caught a touchdown pass of 6 yards from quarterback Vince Young, who was 5-of-7 passing for 68 yards.
Charles rushed eight times for 40 yards, including a TD run of 7 yards. Melton, who is 6-3 and 275 pounds, ran three times for 29 yards and has emerged as the team's short-yardage and goal-line back.
"Jamaal gives us some speed out there that Ramonce gave us when he was playing tailback, and Henry gives us the power," coach Mack Brown said.
Offensive coordinator Greg Davis said he is determined to keep Taylor in a versatile role that will have him playing tailback, slot receiver and flanker.
"Obviously, it's easier to give Ramonce the ball when he's in the backfield," Davis said. "But we've got to keep moving him around. Sometimes he helps your run game because of his ability to stretch the field at receiver."
Taylor had a huge day, returning a kickoff 94 yards for a score against the scout team and taking a reverse 63 yards for a TD against the second-team defense.
"We feel Ramonce needs to touch the ball 10 times or so a game," Brown said.
Briefly: Richmond McGee has emerged as the leading candidate to handle field goals, punts and kickoffs this season, Brown said. McGee made two 33-yard field goals during the scrimmage Saturday, including one that was partially blocked. Senior David Pino has struggled.
