In two games against OU, Young has 31 carries for 181 yards and 1 TD. And, yes, that's holding him in check.

Why don't you mention the 19 of 44 passing (.432%) for a whopping 221 yards and 2 INT with 0 TD's in there?

I'll let him run for 90 yards, complete less than 50% of his passes and give us a pick any day of the week.

Hmmm, interesting comments. Ignorant, but interesting.

Vince Young put on a show in Pasadena last January and will likely do the same in your house Saturday night.

You cannot stop him.

Texas is always everybodies biggest game of the year. Now its your's.

Yawn.

Horn's roll 35-14.

You guys looked nominally like a top 10 team in beating a living-off-their-reputation mid-level MAC team.

Texas crushed a team that would easily give Miami of Ohio a run for their money.

Advantage Texas

I think your doctor needs to get you back on your meds. We've beaten every single Heisman-candidate that has come to The Shoe since Tressel's arrival. Our own Troy Smith made Michigan look as bad as Young did. In fact, Smith literally drew your Rose Bowl game plan up for you, right on our field.

As for comparing Louisiana-Lafayette to Miami, two words come to mind: Fucking moron. LaLa has gone 1-10, 3-8, 3-9, 4-8, and 4-7 since 2000, and that's in the frickin' Sun Belt conference. Miami has gone 6-5, 7-5, 7-5, 13-1, and 8-5 in the much tougher MAC.

I haven't seen many posters give more than a passing nod at Texas, usually couched with a comment like above. Take the other stance for a second: tell me why Ohio State loses this game.

If you're looking for "stranger than truth" fiction, try Amazon.com!

Being as objective as I can be, I can't see that happening. Just remember when Miami was gonna walk all over Ohio State in 2002. The Buckeyes were three to four touchdown underdogs on a lot of cards.

I will not be surprised to see exactly what we saw with Notre Dame in the 'Shoe in their last trip.

Texas' linebackers are not chopped liver. Aaron Harris is an All American candidate at MLB. Bobino, Kelson, and Killebrew are extremely fast...not the biggest guys in the world, but our LBs can match yours in the speed department.

Jeez, where are all the crack addicts coming from? Here are the 40-times of our top-4 LBs:

D'Andrea (hurt): 4.45
Hawk: 4.47
Carpenter: 4.51 (at 260+ pounds)
Schlegel: 4.56

He's right, they are living off their reputations!

Consensus computer ratings: http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm

#47 Miami of Ohio
#51 Iowa State
#52 Kansas State
#53 Kansas
#61 Missouri
#69 Colorado State
#96 Baylor
#104 Louisiana Lafayette

However, it would seem that their reputation is quite good enough to fit into the Big 12 :slappy:

If our Silver Bullets neutralize the Texas running game early on, this one's over.

No way does VY beat us with his arm or coming from behind. Hawk/Carp&Shlegel are priming for the game of their lives and I'll take our D over their O any day of the week...especially with their lack of thunder at the WR position. Let Salley&Whitner come up and make some plays against the run. With our DL, 1st class LBs...I am not that worried to be honest.

Good game regardless. Though I like the Bucks by at least two touchdowns.

Personally I wish Tressel would've left the starters in the game for alittle longer in the Miami game but we're talk'n bout a game that was clearly out of hand. OSU would've beat Miami 42 or 50- ZERO if we left our starters in.

I would have liked to shut out Miami also. But the game time experience that our young guys learned may make the difference later in the year. If a starter goes down, having experienced depth could be the difference between a national title or not.

So go ahead and run the score up on Louisianna Laf...we'll go ahead and get our younger guys some field time.

I was much happier getting the freshman in versus having a shutout. I could care less about the media and trying to run up a big shutout to get recognition. Recognition won't beat Texas, but experienced players will. I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Also we played a better opponent than Texas so I can't really compare the outcomes.

5 days.....

Isn't it funny how all the intelligent and generally objective opposing fans come here early and make great contributions. Then a week or two before game day, the weasels come out claiming that Vince Young fed everyone in Darrell K. Royal Stadium with a 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.

Luckily, SteveO will be in school tomorrow and we don't have to hear from him until he gets off the bus, does his homework & chores and gets permission from his mom.

But his Mom won't be there to give permission untill I tell her its ok to leave my house. :wink2:

Yeah, I've heard that already. Look, I'm not trying to disparage your linebackers. It's the top unit in the country heading into the season. But if you think they are fast enough on the field to catch Vince Young, you'll be another in a long line of opposing fanbases to be shocked at what you see Saturday. He will make your linebackers look stupid. I've already picked OSU to win, but many on this board think it will be a cakewalk. In fact, as much as you compare Texas fans to Miami's before the 2002 championship game, a closer look will confirm that it is in fact the OSU fans who are taking Miami's "we're better athletes and can't possibly lose to an inferior Texas team" stance. Much like OSU in 2002, we're going to go into this one with a power rushing attack and a defense that is much better than you think it is, and we plan on leaving with a big win.

Unlike the OSU vs Miami 2002 parallel you are trying to draw you are also coming in here with a coach well known for not getting it done in big games or against good teams.

Accusing Texas of playing a bad opponent is one thing. Accusing Texas of running up the score is assinine. The starters were out by the second drive of the second half. Texas attempted two passes in the second half of the game, even though the backup quarterback needs a lot of work. By the fourth quarter, we were playing guys not on the four-deep, including a walk-on quarterback. Say whatever you want about ULaLa. Texas beat them exactly like an elite team should beat a bad opponent.
