Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

Since we're running out of things to talk about it seems (who would have seen this coming?!) I would like to take this time to say that Texas fans visiting this forum have used the word "Aggy" as a noun, proper noun, pronoun, preposition, prefix, adjective, verb, and adverb...and I find that absolutely hilarious. It is the best derogatory term used to describe a rival that I can think of, and "scUM" pales in comparison.

right now this is the only one i post on. I have said it before but here goes. I can talk Texas Football with any number of people i know, I can talk aggy football with my entire family, sooner football is not to be discussed, and tOSU is the big game this year. I am afraid that you will have to put up with me (or ban me) until around this time next year. Even then, I might stick around, I am begining to have a new respect for the bucks, They might be my "other" team. I like to pick random teams to follow every year, ohio state seems as good as any

You're not too bad to put up with, HL. And no matter what happens on the 10th, know that 90-some precent of us will be rooting for the 'Horns to kick some land thievin' butt in the RRS.

Glad to hear that, even if it is just to get your strength of schedule up. For those of you who travel to other big rivalry games, I highly suggest hitting up a TX-OU game before it leaves Dallas for good and watching it in person, and then watching the amazing amount of trash talk after the game filter through the State Fair before, during and after the game.

HL is spending a lot of time on your website, your "other" team? as long as we don't see you wearing one of those ridiculous half jerseys like you have a son on each team, it should be okay though.

I am glad to visit this site to understand more about our opponent on the 10th. And honestly, as i have admitted on this site before, I did not watch Ohio state last year all that much, but I look forward to watching the first OSU game this year, and maybe a few others, as I feel like I know too much about your team. And while I may not make you guys an "other" team, I will gladly use all big 10 knowledge that I have gained here to continue gambling on College Football and trying to win money at all costs so that we can run these offshore gambling outfits out of business.

speaking of, there will be some interesting matches on the first weekend, BGSU and Wisc, boise state and Georgia, and seeing Aggy take a trip to south carolina. Wow, if Aggy weren't wearing a different color than the clemson fans......

There will be no half jersies around my house. Game day is burnt orange buttondown and jeans and boots. I just really like football and try to have a rooting intrest in other games(without having money on them) so I pick a yearly team to cheer for(when not playing the horns) Most of the "others" will be teams we don't play, but this year I have decided(just now actually) that it will be ohio state. The added bonus is that my best friend is a huge mich fan. Should be a fun year.

you know it doesn't work that way, right? the Book pays the winners with the losers' money, and charges the winners a 10% vigorish... the Book has to REALLY fuck the line up to lose any money... the Super Bowl with the Pats defeating the heavily favored Rams comes to mind... so much money was coming in on the Rams that the straight bet was +550 for the Pats... so naturally, i, and a LOT of other people, dropped a couple Bennies on NE... i collected $1100 that night, which was small change... Charles Barkley was offered a line of credit at the Sports Book at Mandalay Bay, and he dropped $150,000 straight up on NE... he collected $675,000 that night after paying off the line of credit, and the Director, who offered Chuck the line of credit, lost his job...

nice, and yes I do know how it works, I like the stories about lines in Vegas, how they often give less/take more points from the packers b/c so many packers fans travel to Vegas, and that they adjust the line based on this factor even more on Monday night FB, etc. Do you work in the gaming industry? sportsbook? I know that the goal is to even it out, but with the aforementioned packer situation, they are pretty certain that more money is going to come in on the pack, so they skew it even heavier not just to even it out, but b/c they know the pack fans will take the pack no matter what. (I guess there is some point where they will just not bet.)

Anyway, that's a good story, I have seen Barkley in Vegas on a least two different occasions. once w/ Tiger where Tiger won a substantial amount of coin and didn't tip one time (also at MB), and the cocktail waitress said that he never tips. in the alternative, the same waitress told me that affleck came in the night before and won about $150 Gs and tipped all of it away to the waitresses. Of course if he would have foreseen his starring roles in Surving Christmas, Paycheck, and (insert the blank with any movie he has made in the past three years or so) he might have held on to that money.

i worked at Mandalay for four years... first at Rock Lobster, then at rumjungle... i'm in the service industry, so no real experience in gaming or the Book... but i probably spent as much time in the Book as i did at work... Papa Joe Chervaliet (or however you spell it) used to do his radio show from the Book, and i'd chat him up during commercials... i hung out with this dude Henry, who was a runner for some big time guy in Chicago... dude lived on the top floor of Mandalay, and all he did was bet on football... i remember one Monday night we were sitting there BSing, and he just said, "i don't like that line, i'm gonna change it." so up he goes and drops $25 Gs on the Raiders... then he came back, and we watched the line drop from 7 to 6.5 points... naturally, the Raiders won by 7... crazy... as for setting the lines specific to certain fan bases, i'm not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me... personally, i don't bet on my team... but when Ohio State played Miami in the Fiesta Bowl, the lines opened at Miami -13.5, and then after Christmas, once all the Buckeye fans started showing up, the lines dropped two or even three points in some places, which is just INSANE... i mean, it takes a TREMENDOUS amount of money on one side to get a line to drop three points...

as for tipping, Tiger is a shitty tipper... Jordan is a shitty tipper... Barkley tips like a maniac... Drew Carey tips like crazy too... i was there when he threw a cocktail waitress $10,000 one night... i got wasted with Dennis Rodman at the House of Blues one night... i drank a bottle of Patron with the Bare Naked Ladies, bought Cuba Gooding Junior so many shots he fell off his bar stool, talked hockey with Mike Myers, you name it...
i got a lot of stories...

i love Mandaly Bay...
