B/c the players, who don't have to watch their words as much, seriously downplay the hype over Troy Smith letting his team down, especially with the way the media and fans ran him down over the latest issue. From the way the team reportedly plays differently when he's on the field (rumblings from spring practices).

I can see him missing some of the texas game, but I really think this is his team. Boeckman is an unknown commodity, but Zwick has much more to prove than Smith does on the field, IMO.

Just curious, but how is this Smith's team when he is spending the Fall running on the scout team? I find it hard to believe that he is a candidate for major minutes in the Texas game with this start to camp....
Even if Troy was guaranteed publically to play the entire rest of the season, he still would work out with the scout team, b/c he isn't part of the squad getting ready for a reasonably difficult test against Miami.

My statement was its his team until someone proves otherwise. Even you mili have said if one of our backup QBs "lights it up" it will get interesting.

Was talking with a rabid michigan fan I know today. He has passed up michigan-notre shame tickets to stay home and watch the OSU-Texas game. He said he had some other reasons, but he is excited to watch that game.

Texas fans, what position did Quan play to warrant this quote by Brown?
"Quan Cosby will improve every day because he's a 22-year old that's never played receiver," head coach Mack Brown said, "and he hasn't played football for four years."

Another quote from mack:
"We're still looking at a lot of combinations on defense at linebacker," Brown said. "That's the one area that we have to shore up."...

I thought Texas had 3 very good linebackers already?

Also this is Troy's offense still. I mean you saw for yourself how they responded last year. Also add in the extra demension that Troy gives you, and also Troy was said to not be starting because he made more mistakes. Thats bull crap if it wasn't for two passes that were dropped then intercepted at Purdue Troy would've had 8 Tds and 1 Int... However 8 Td's and 3 Int's is still not to bad considering that was suppose to be his weakness.

Personally I think Texas is banking on too many talented inexperienced players. With OSU we don't really have a question mark besides at Running back. Because I believe that Tressel has full confidence in Tyler Everett. You have to Remember Everett started alot of games last year and has game experience. Maybe not at corner but game experience is game experience.

I believe Quan lined up mostly at QB and RB at a small school in Mart, TX. I think the quote makes sense as he is learning a new position.

LB is our biggest question of the summer practices, mainly due ot the loss of Derrick Johnson and no one being 100% sure who will play at each of the different spots.

we have at least 3 good linebackers but as a position was vacated by a great linebacker there is competition at that position. As for too many inexperienced players, how many do you think we have? With the exception of Cedric Benson and Derrick Johnson we are returning almost all of our starters from last year.

SIMV and I met at the Nike last night and laid out a location in the lot that will get high traffic and good visbility.

It will close the Jesse Owens track facility, but only yards from Fred Taylor Drive. We're hoping to have a huge turnout for this.

Send me or SIMV a PM if you're coming and what you bring with you.

Anyone with a generator and a couple of good sized TV's, there may be free beer for you all day. :)

However, I'll believe it when I see it. This is Smith's team until someone proves otherwise.
yep, the second team o is clearly smith's until someone proves otherwise.

it doesn't matter how good you are, at a place like tOSU you only get so many opportunities. if smith continues to blow his chances we may never see him again. as things stand today, it may already be to late for him. i personally still think we will see smith either during or the game after texas. but if zwick or boeckman show up and play lights out against miami, then well against texas. we may very well never see smith again.

if this really were "smith's team to loose" he would be spending atleast 50% of his time with the starting o prepairing for the upcoming season. from what i have heard he is seeing significantly less time than that with the starters. this doesn't mean he should hang it up and look to transfer, but smith's future on o is currently not in his hands.
