Game Thread Game Two: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (final)

Scooter1369, I was the 47th RV in to the RV lot for the Michigan game last year. I think there were only 3 spots left when we pulled up. Question: to get a parking spot which will accomodate the awning and the RV slideout -- when does a person have to get there? (seems that only outside parking spots accomodated this) What time do you think this RV lot will open for Texas?

Lastly, the lot to the NW, which I think accomodates RV's as well, does that open the day before and are you able to stay overnight (just keeping your head down)?

We're bringing two 50" TV's, corn hole, and lots of F&B -- plan to get started before dawn on game day!
Thanks for any insight!

you guys are going to hate that attitude coming from Texas fans in Columbus, many of us tend to be very proud, very proud of our state.
On the contrary, that's the thing I admire most about Texans. I have met several of you guys in my life and the sentiment is always the same--they're proud to be Texans. I've often wished that Ohioans were more like that--I'm d*mn proud to have been born and raised in Ohio and I wish more Ohioans would show such solidarity and state pride.

Hmm, interesting twists. Read these quotes by Nevada (extremely close to the staff; well established insider) over at SGN... very interesting, especially about the offense. He's one of the few who has seen practice (closed to public & altered when media is there), and things were really wide open all spring.

Troy will not start--repeat NOT START against Texas---but I think he sees action the beginning of the 2nd quarter----

NevadaBuck says to (2005-8-10 14:28:32):
DL is a funny one right now...more DT's than DE's--and what we need is a pass rush--look for Freeman coming off the edge..
NevadaBuck says to (2005-8-10 14:30:40):
[re: barrow a disruptive force, but] not yet..that is why Bobby C And Mr Freeman could be the answer to getting after the QB...

NevadaBuck says to (2005-8-10 14:29:33):
The offense this year will look nothing like the offense of the beginning of last year---even more wide open than the end of last year...

I am no where near Nevada's world but if Zwick doesn't unload on Miami OH, I think it will be more likely the beginning of the 2nd offensive series.

TSN - A little too harsh, but it only helps to fuel discussion
...
"We'll let him throw all day," says free safety Jason Simpson of Missouri, which will play Texas at home on October 1.

At this point, why wouldn't every team adopt a similar strategy? Although Young is 17-2 as a starter, both losses (Washington State and Oklahoma) were in big games against teams that stopped the run and forced Young to make plays with his arm. In those two games, Young was 14-of-37 for 101 yards combined. And no touchdowns.

It won't take long to see where this story begins or ends. Texas travels to Ohio State on September 10 -- a month before the annual showdown with Oklahoma -- and could be out of the national championship race early. Or -- if Young truly has become a more complete quarterback -- the Longhorns could take the first step toward their biggest season ever.

Matt Hayes' strategy worked. He writes about Texas more than any other school. It's always negative, so he gets a bunch of pissed off UT fans reading his drivel and emailing him. The emails only serve as encouragement, and the cycle continues.

I'll give him credit for that. I won't give him credit for being a good journalist. He's not telling outright lies, but he's leaving some pretty applicable information out every time he writes an article about Texas. The one last year with the Cal mess was the worst, a close second was the Young-McNeal comparison.

I read that yesterday as well, and I have a feeling that Vince might have a little something extra for the Tigers in October. The guy who said that is one of only three returning starters on defense. And last year, chance mock played about the entire second half.

but they are echoing sentiments of everybody in the nation.

1st tsn does not like texas very much, but that aside, how can you not agree with this. As a fan of the longhorns, however, i just choose to think that the strategy will backfire. You have to stop the run first and you would be foolish or aggy to try otherwise.

Yeah I agree it was unfair, tho 100 yards combined is pretty awful.

It was very interesting to hear Nevada talk about Troy not starting the texas game (looks like Mili's rumor might be true)... but the comments about the offense were just encouraging confirmation of the rumors that had been circulating this offseason.

Maybe troy will fumble the ball or throw INTs. Maybe we will lose games. But this team will look nothing like last year's team on offense.

it should ber very interesting, i hated when Texas switched QBs in the middle of the game, it never seemed to give that spark that I always wanted. Have the Buckeyes switched QBs in game recently?

Do you guys have zero confidence in Zwick, even if he is completely healthy?

They switched under cooper, but we did lots of stupid things under cooper.

We have some confidence in Zwick, but Zwick often doesn't even have confidence in Zwick. He can beat you with his arm, but Smith brings a much more dangerous arsenal.

I don't think that we're gonna turn into USC overnight on offense, but anyone who saw the spring practices said we hadn't lost a beat (and even took a few steps up in terms of Ginn, Dukes, Pittman) on offense from the wa we finished.

I think that's if Zwick even starts the Miami game, and if he doesn't light them up it'll be Boeckman starting the Texas game.
