OkState made Lydell Ross look like Clarett out there. I'm pretty sure Mrs. Tressel could have thrown for a victory against OkSU.
Of course Mrs. Tressel is 6'3", 250......

"Now I don't want you guys gettin soft on me this summer...you know, sittin by the pool everyday, chasin the muff around...Breakdown! hell Mrs. Tressel's quicker than you pansies"

Funny that you should choose the Okla. St. game rather than the scUM game. Could it be b/c VY had a better passing game against Okla. St.? Possibly it was b/c that wasn't our starter in the Okla. St. game, and even the player you selected wasn't healthy. A more realistic snapshot comparison reveals passing capabilities that aren't as similar (vs. scUM):
BuckeyeBoy,

My point had nothing to do with Zwick. I wasn't taking a shot at your quarterback by posting his stats for the OSU game. I was lazy and it's the line that stood out when I looked at the game notes so I just posted it for those interested. My main point wasn't even to compare Vince to any OSU quarterback, it was to merely suggest that you guys might be underestimating his passing abilities. Didn't know I would get jumped on for suggesting it... and it's just my opinion. I've seen every game Vince has played since he was in high school and he's a better passer than people give him credit for.

He's not a one dimensional quarterback... one dimension just overshadows the other one.. and most people make the decision purely based on the Michigan game because outside of Texas fan's it's the only game they've seen him in.

Unfortunately I'll have to agree with our friendly neighborhood Longhorn fans on this one. Vince isn't that bad of a passer. His accuracy will never be compared to Troy Aikman, but it's not like he can't hit the broad side of a barn, either. I think he's a serviceable passing quarterback, as long as he doesn't have to rely totally on his arm. Mili's 100% correct, if he's in a position where he has to pass to beat tOSU, it's all over.

Well I'm not a Texas fan - however I saw Young (on TV) in the RR Shoout Out and also vs A&M in the Big12 Conference Game around Thanksgiving. Based on what I saw I'd agree that he is not a one dimensional QB -- though certainly the RR game was far from a great advertisement for his skills.

Regardless, our D-Linemen and LB's will have to play smart and honest football to contain Vince Young, and get pressure on him. Once they do that it becomes a case of can VY's receivers catch, as much as can VY pass.

I'll agree that Longhorn fans wouldn't be real optimistic at this point... but that's what my flask will be for. :wink2:

Here's a few more interesting stats. Not too bad for a guy that can't throw the ball.

(1) Vince currently is the all-time career passing-completion percentage leader in the 112-year history of the University of Texas football program (ahead of both Chris and Major, as well as every other UT quarterback in history).

(2) Vince also holds the all-time record for consecutive pass completions (14, while Chris is second with 11) in the 112-year history of the University of Texas football program.

(3) Vince also holds the all-time record for highest pass-completion percentage in a game in the 112-year history of the University of Texas football program.

(4) In just one and one-half seasons as a starting quarterback for the University of Texas, Vince has thrown for more than 3,000 yards -- which ranks No. 8 in the history of the UT football program, right behind Hall of Fame quarterback Bobby Layne (who is No. 7 on the all-time UT list).

(5) The best passing performances by Vince last year came in the second half of the 2004 football season, when the TX OC revamped their offensive philosophy to better fit VY's strengths, one of which is passing the football downfield from a variety of offensive sets and in play-action, as well as pocket-passing, situations.

VINCE YOUNG'S IMPACT AT TEXAS

•17-2 as a starter

•59 percent completion rate is highest of any UT quarterback after two seasons

•Set UT completion percentage record (18-of-21, 85.7 percent) vs. OSU in 2004

•Completed 63 percent of his passes over final six games of last season

•Holds school record for consecutive completions with 14 against Kansas in 2004

•Led biggest comeback in school history, erasing a 28-point deficit vs. OSU last year

•Led five second-half comebacks last season

Well fine... you can tailgate in the fawcett center, but everyone else will be in the RV lot

One more thing... Any person planning on attending the BP tailgate must be in proper Buckeye Planet attire. Qualifying attire is a long or short sleeved BP t-shirt in one of three colors. Red, White, or Grey. Any persons not meeting these requirements will not be permitted to tailgate with us  however you can gain access to the BP tailgate by purchasing said attire by contacting me via PM or at the BP tailgate.

Texas fans, you guys can wear those burnt orange "fire Holbrook" shirts and gain immediate access and a free adult beverage

Fine you big schmuck :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

if we have to cheat our saftey's up then we have much larger problems on our hands than ted ginn jr.

See.. this is the kind of stuff I think about when you guys mention that the Texas D is going to be more aggressive than in the past....

Sure... you can attack some in the red zone... but I just dont' see a lot of blitzing before that... Especially if we use 3 wide a lot...

Anyway... just one of those little things that Holmes and Ginn Give you.

I'd put your #1 corner on Holmes, personally... and maybe then you can play some man on that side if you want/need to bring some people... its s till playing with fire.

Tressel recently said in his presser that if they notice Santonio is in single coverage, we have to get him the ball. This will not change. He is our #1 threat. He will be guarded by your #1 DB. If you fail to do this, then your DC is quite stupid.

Ginn is a freak, but Santonio is the best speed WR out there right now.

Good luck to your other CBs trying to cover Ginn and Gonzalez at WR. Good luck to your LBs trying to cover Roy Hall (a hybrid WR/TE, up to 255 so he can play as a 3rd down TE). We'll be nice and not even bring Dukes into the equation, who has just as much potential as your unproven guys like Shipley.
