Additionally, school wasn't in session that week. Typically, students don't begin arriving until the week before the Big-10 opener (OSU's Fall quarter usually starts around the middle of the 3rd week in September), so the student support (the most vocal bunch) was comparitively weak in relation to a Big-10 conference game, not that many students could afford the ticket prices anyway.
Student ticket prices for the Texas game were the same as any other out of conference game: around 30$. I'd say there were plenty of students there, just no Block-O to start the O-H-I-O cheer and so on. Plus most of the students get jammed up in the NE corner of C-Deck, not the best place in the world to be heard by the rest of the stadium.
