Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

Additionally, school wasn't in session that week. Typically, students don't begin arriving until the week before the Big-10 opener (OSU's Fall quarter usually starts around the middle of the 3rd week in September), so the student support (the most vocal bunch) was comparitively weak in relation to a Big-10 conference game, not that many students could afford the ticket prices anyway.

Student ticket prices for the Texas game were the same as any other out of conference game: around 30$. I'd say there were plenty of students there, just no Block-O to start the O-H-I-O cheer and so on. Plus most of the students get jammed up in the NE corner of C-Deck, not the best place in the world to be heard by the rest of the stadium.

So you chose to be a dick?

Sorry, couldn't resist, since an OSU fan was teasing us about having a much bigger stadium. Reminds me of an exchange between an American soldier and and English gentleman during the Second World War.

GI: "I guess this whole country could fit into one corner of Kansas."
English Gentleman: "Yes, but to what end?"

No one has been more complimentary than me concerning your esteemed program. Never forget that it was I who made the ultimate sacrifice: I got banned off the USC board for my "OSU was way tougher than USC" thread.

So that makes it OK for you to make poorly-veiled insults like "Guess 105,000 couldn't cheer loud enough last year"?

ok point taken from both sides. moving on, back to some sort of relevant talk on the game.

Agreed. Heard some scuttlebutt from an employee at my office who recently completed a project with the UT football team. Romance Taylor, recently indicted for pot possession, is not being missed from the team. He was evidently a real troublemaker in the locker room, picking fights all the time. Shame--guy was fantastically talented with blazing speed.

It raises a rather ugly aspect of our society. When someone from a troubled home can score touchdowns, we help them. When we are finished with them, we have no trouble discarding them. RT got lots of second chances because he was talented. How many kids who need help never get it because they don't have something society prizes?

Look I have to call you on this.

I appreciate the fact that you're making lemonaide out of the lemons he brought to the table but saying he wont be missed is just flat silly.

Mo C was a total loser douche... but saying he didnt matter is just flat inaccurate. MoC was the difference in OSU repeating in 2003 and any OBJECTIVE OSU fan can admit that.

Taylor might be a problem off the feild and in the locker room but the guy is PRIME TIME on the feild and his not being on the feild WILL be felt.

I was confused why you were 'calling him out'... I guess I missed the comparison, my bad ('saying he jsut didn't matter is flat out inaccurate' threw me).

As for the texas fan's post, he said it was a shame b/c he was ridiculously talented. I believe he meant the team does not miss his cancerous attitude in the locker room.

I hadn't heard this anywhere, but I'm not surprised. In fact, I kind of figured that was happening.

I think that reinforces how important Vince was as a leader. I strongly believe a team can be torn apart by conflict in the locker room.

Our 2003 team is a good example. It's no secret that Vince, Cedric Benson, and Roy Williams never really got along. Including those 3 top 5 picks, that starting 11 on offense also included a current NFL co-starter at tight end (4th round I think), 2 3rd round picks, a 6th round pick, a future first round pick, and 2 guys who signed free agent contracts. That offense clearly underachieved badly, although there were other factors involved too.

If your too dull intellecutally to grasp the comparision thats your problem.

While I understand your point in the previous post (comparing our past trouble-making RB with Texas' current one), challenging someone else's mental capabilities with a statement that has four spelling/grammatical errors in 12 words doesn't exactly make you look at that smart.
