Game Thread Game Two: #1 Ohio State 24, #2 Texas 7 (9/9/06)

I wouldn't mind going to Cleveland Browns Stadium on December 30 in 25-degree cold to watch the Cornhole University Jugdishes play against the Maine Institute of Art Rainbow Firecrackers in the Southwest Airlines "I Want to Go Home" Bowl. Of course, ever since the Jugdishes hired coach Len Dykstra, they've been a pretty fun team to watch. And you just know that the Rainbow Firecrackers are going to light up the scoreboard.

If they want to have an outside bowl game in December or January in a northern city, then they might as well call it the Festering Turd Bowl, because that's what the quality of football will resemble.

Here's an interesting tidbit I found on Ramonce. I am part of an online network called Facebook, which basically links college students from different places (as well as alumni). In my UT network, Ramonce is one of my friends. Anyways, on Facebook you have wall where people can leave you messages. I have been checking the wall of Ramonce since his pot charges, and I found something intriguing yesterday. It appears that Quan Cosby (WR) wrote this on his wall (and I quote):

<SCRIPT><!-- if (!is_supported_js_browser()) {location.href = "http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=Alessandra&nojs=1";}//--> </SCRIPT><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD id=tDataText9 vAlign=top align=middle width="14%">

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>"It's 4 oz of weed, less than 5 pounds; So 4oz of weed was found in his car, and they can't even prove it was his; RT didn't get busted w/ 5pounds of weed, as a lot of readers thought they understood; Unfortunately, most of us are misled by the elusive writings which reflect the opinions of certain sports analysts; even the best of the best readers tend to read with a preconceived notion at times...please read your source carefully before throwing accusations..."

I find this interesting as it is the first time that another UT footbally player has defended or said anything to Ramonce on his wall (this was in response to a few people who were mocking Ramonce). It also appears that it's 4oz. not 5 lbs. (either way, weed is weed and illegal no matter what). Take this for what it's worth any nothing more...

I wouldn't take that as anything more than wishful thinking on the part of the facebook writer. Why?

Taylor was released from the Bell County Law Enforcement Center in Belton just after 12 p.m., Monday. Bond was set at $5,000 by Judge Martha Trudo, 264th Judicial District. A lab analysis determined that the total weight of the marijuana was "over four ounces" but "under five pounds." A weight of more than "five pounds" would constitute a second-degree felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
Now couple the above public record of charge with the earlier reported estimate of found weight - 5 pounds.
It makes sense that on final weighing the evidence comes in under 5 pounds, it does not make sense that it comes in at four ounces.
Your writer on facebook is taking the first part of the definition of the scale of felony and leaning on that to describe the mass of material siezed by police. So, 4 oz wasn't found in his car. More likely (though admittedly not certain) something closer to five pounds was found. Still a shit-load. As for the "its not mine defense" I cannot see that holding much water either. Ramonce's vehicle, weed in the same. Short a fall-guy from one of the other passengers, or some police COC error with the evidence, he risks being tagged, and likely bagged.
State Felony in Texas on Marijuana possession in the 4 oz and up to 5 pound bracket carries 180 days jail time and a $10,000 fine. No small matter.

Aside from the degree of the crime, the difference between 4 oz and 5 pounds is huge, literally and figuratively. A "dime bag" of dope generally describes $10 worth -- a quantity small enough to fit in a small sandwich bag and carried in a persons pocket. 1/16th to 1/8th of an ounce is a typical dealers' distribution weight, 1/16th running maybe $25 to $35. "An eighth" is pretty hefty to stuff in the pockets of a pair of jeans or shorts. Considering that 4 ounces is well over 32 times what most casual tokers would consider ample for "their stash," not to mention we're already talking about a storage bag more along the lines of gallon freezer bags, not little sandwich baggies. Five pounds ... now we're approaching a quantity exceeding storage in one duffel bag or backpack.

Most people hear "4 ounces" and think, Well, that can't be that much. 4 ounces, as it pertains to a measurement of dope, is an enormous amount and substantial for a dealer.

I think this is the problem for Ramonce's defense -- I find it hard to believe that even a quantity as small as 4 ounces could be stored in his car and him not know about it. Hell, he'd have to have been able to at least smell it, whether any of it was ever burnt or not.

Not that I'd know anything about what I'm talking about, mind you. :pimp:
