Game thread: USC 34, Notre Dame 31 (Final)

Thats fine, if they win out they will probably get a chance to prove it too. I've said this all year....until USC gets beat, they are #1 in the country. I hate them with a passion, but they have won 28 straight for a reason.

So even though USC struggled against the last 3 teams they have faced, and Texas has easily beaten the last 3 teams they've faced, which, other than ND, USC hasnt played anyone that great, you still think that USC should be #1 in the country???

Yes, because they have found a way to win those games........all on the road. Say what you want, but the year that we won the title.........there were many games that we could have lost........but true championship teams find a way to win tight ballgames. USC did that tonight, ND did not. Texas did that against us in Sept, in a game that we should have won. Actually, Texas has played a worse conference schedule than USC to this point FWIW. They are heading for a good showdown........

I cant see either Texas or USC losing for the rest of the year, makes me want to start a NC prediction thread already...

Neither do I, but I think one will lose. Not sure who, but someone will. If I had to guess I would think it would be Texas, they have a track record for choking. USC under Caroll does not sadly. I do think that USC will lose in the title game if they play Texas or Va. Tech though.

Uh...yes. Actually, USC made it tough for the last 4 games.

But USC won 3 hard-fought games (Oregon, ASU, ND) on the road against ranked opponents, coming from behind ON ALL 3 games to win.

If that's not a championship performance, I don't know what is.

On the other hand, UT has a much weaker schedule and has beaten who? They beat us, but then we promptly got killed by Penn State, so you could make a case that UT has actually beaten no one of consequence.

Us beating Michigan means nothing in this case since ND beat Michigan too, before now being beaten by USC.

yes but even the play-by-play guys said his forward progress was stopped, if there had been instant replay then it would have been found that there was no fumble because his progress was stopped and he would have been ruled inbounds, and the time would have ran off the clock
You're full of it. He was diving through the air! His forward progress was never stopped. As soon as he got popped, he lost the ball. If you can find a point where he was "stopped," I'd love to see it.

So you are going to be the ref with the balls to make that call in a game of that magnitude? I doubt it......

Did you watch the same game as me last week? If I'm not mistaken, we played shitty that whole game, and still had a chance to tie it late in the 4th quarter....... That's not exactly a killing in my book.
