For all those people who love Wolfe, I've got to say that I'm not impressed with a guy who runs for 200 yards if he's got to have 30 or 40+ carries to do so (see also DeAngelo Williams). Neither am I impressed when you put up big numbers and your team still loses (again, see also DeAngelo Williams). Come and talk to me when you can put up big numbers and (1) win games, and (2) you don't need a thousand carries to do so.
79 DAYS TILL FOOTBALL SEASON!!!
Umm, you do realize Memphis lost all of their qb's right? And they still went to a bowl game even with defenses keying on DeAngelo. That's pretty fucking impressive! You also realize 30 carries for 200 yards is a 6.7 ypc average, right?
Pittman faced one great rush defense, and averaged a whopping 0.4 ypc more. How many RBs can succeed behind Memphis' line with absolutely no balance on offense? I guess he was taken in the first round b/c of inflated #'s, right?Williams faced one decent defense all year (Mississippi), and was held to 85 yards on 24 carries.

Doesn't that sound familar?

I hope your team has the same attitude you do.
fair enough. However, I don't see anyone proclaiming Pittman as the second coming of Barry Sanders... That is the difference.
I was merely responding in turn to evaluating a RB based on 1 tough game when the passing game is nearly non-existant. Williams may flop at the next level, but it's goin to take more than the mississippi defense to convince me of that. Was I comparing Pittman to Williams? And NFL teams are never wrong with their first-round draft picks.
Sometimes I think you post just to post...

And my point is that gaudy stats aren't all what folks make them out to be...neither is NFL draft position. Williams got his huge numbers against defensive stalwarts such as Chattanooga, Tulsa, UTEP, Central Florida, Houston, East Carolina, UAB, and Akron. He also had a "tough game" against Southern Mississippi (36-123, 3.4 ypc) and just happened to not play against the best defense they faced all year (Tennessee).
Well, doesn't it balance out since he's playing on a mediocre team?
Well, Ladanian Tomlinsan(sp?) didn't always play against top-notch competition and he's turned out pretty well.
