Game Thread Game One: #1 Ohio State 35, Northern Illinois 12 (9/2/06)

Yeah we were burned by faster wide recievers because we have to average at best speed corners in Alvah and Adriel Hansbro. Bradley Pruitt and Melvin Rice Jr. and undoubtly faster, but they were only freshman last year. Hopefully we use them more this year.

Why do you even post in this thread? You just keep saying the same thing.

What DBB said. I've mentioned Sproles two or three times, whilst you post every fricking article in the solar system about Wolfe. Here's a clue for you: We don't give a shit about Wolfe, and we'll care about him even less after we hand him and the rest of the NIU team and staff their collective asses on Sep 2nd.

For all those people who love Wolfe, I've got to say that I'm not impressed with a guy who runs for 200 yards if he's got to have 30 or 40+ carries to do so (see also DeAngelo Williams). Neither am I impressed when you put up big numbers and your team still loses (again, see also DeAngelo Williams). Come and talk to me when you can put up big numbers and (1) win games, and (2) you don't need a thousand carries to do so.

THAT, is as good example as you're going to find of precisely what people are talking about when they say, "We've heard it all before".

Several fans of EVERY "paycheck" team on our schedule posts that at some point.

On NIU's own board, there is even a genius that "guarantees" that our team feels the same way. In every one of these threads, someone has to remind the other team's fans that Jim Tressel would not allow his team to take Youngstown State lightly, much less ___NIU___.

I'll fill in that blank with a different team next time I make this post.

What sounds familiar is your non-stop soapbox of Wolfe, and your complaints of us being repetitious when in fact our replies are no more repetitious than your repeat comments that cause the replies.

So what if our team has the attitude that Wolfe ain't shit? You think that will somehow make our defense vulnerable to the mighty Wolfe? Let me tell you how this game is going to go. Both teams will start out slow the first few drives, but once Troy Smith gets revved up it's lights out, and we're up 24-7 at halftime (Wolfe will have 40-50 yards on 12-15 carries). Smith leads us to a TD on our first possession of the second half to go up 31-7 and Tressel puts in the second team offense and defense. NIU sees that the game is all but over and abandons the passing game it went to late in the first half when it fell behind, and feeds the ball to Wolfe continuously to pad his stats. He gets 15-20 yards per drive (a first down or two per drive against our second string) but still never threatens to score once the defense tightens as NIU approaches midfield, and NIU keeps punting. Our second string offense scores again after a drive or two to go up 38-7 early in the fourth, and we empty the bench on offense and defense. Wolfe stays in to get his precious yardage, and against our third string and cheerleaders, he cracks 100 on his 25th or so carry, and puts NIU in FG range, which they convert. NIU fans strut and pound their chests that Wolfe has again went over 100 yards against a great defense (despite the fact that most yardage is against bench players), although our third-string offense puts another TD on the board to make the final 45-10. NIU thus puts yet another "scare" in a BCS team. :roll1:
