Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

and if we build a lead, you aren't gonna see our stars taunting and dancing their way into the end zone. You can get away with it in the pros if you have proven yourself, but in college ball its just stupid. It gives new life to a beaten team by means of revenge.

PSU knew that OSU views them as lesser regardless of what anyone said. Nobody badmouthed Miami, but I doubt Miami believed all of the TresselSpeak that came out of our players' mouths beforehand.

Robinson could turn into a totally different QB, and make this interesting. But until that happens, I'm not that worried. We doubted VY, but the guy had lots of game with good throws, just not many where the offense relied on his throws. Robinson's best game was probably minny, one of the worst defenses in the nation, and he still couldn't hit his WRs 60% of the time.

His downfall will be passes being batted down up front. It's why he didn't complete many last week...because the pedestrian Gopher front 7 was smacking balls around. I forsee a lot of 3rd and 6 passes that never make it past the line, and then he'll try and run to much, and then....

in a surprising twist, PSU fans with logic are turning up over there. Actually, the flaming has died down considerably from yesterday. Can't wait to see the responses to an intelligent viewpoint on tomorrow from one of their own
That was another electric evening game. Kickoff classic. Everyone thought ole' Joe would pull it out and that 2000 was just an abberation. Your head knew it was a long shot, but the heart wanted the 1986 Fiesta Bowl underdog story again.

No dice - we got killed 33-7.

I'm terrified that will happen tomorrow. Look was OSU did to Iowa. Look at how tough they were on Texas. This is a very, very good OSU team that had an extra week to prepare and rest.

How the hell are you guys so confident? Our 1996 and 1998 undefeated teams were absolutely whomped by OSU. I haven't felt this nervous about a game since 2002 Nebraska.

I think PSU is slightly better than Iowa. IMO we are gonna beat PSU comfortably. They suck on special teams and Robinson is a turnover machine. Huston gives us a major advantage.

PSU need to put things into perspective. They are a good team and deserve to be top 25 but they are not even close to OSU in talent and depth. They can beat us but we are gonna have to help them.

If Troy and co. don't turn the ball over more than twice and we play solid special team we will win comfortably.

Things are just ridiculous on the PSU boards! Where have intelligent people like Marshcreek gone? After they lose, and they will lose sometime this year, there will be a mass jumping off the nearest highway over pass!

:slappy:

Maybe the biggest news was PSU's rt on offense not playing! Uh Oh! That means Kudla gets to really abuse a backup! MRob running for his life all game. :lift:

Not good news for an O-Line that's been called "terrible"

Of course, that guy from Mansfield probably likes the back-up better.

Lets, see.... OSU has the best LB corps in the nation and it's a "push??" What a goober.

For a program which has had such trouble since 1999 getting talent, I can't see how in the hell they'd say there is too much "distraction" in hosting this week. Hell, this is supposedly all the rage over in State College. The fans are geeked up, the place will be "rockin" as it were... And JoPa wants to hide that? (OK, that's collateral to the "distraction" I guess)

What the hell? How does this happen???

"Hey coach, we're getting some interest from some big time recruits. I think we should have em in for the OSU game, cause the place will be ALL ABOUT PSU football, that's what we should show these kids. Fan support, big deal opponant. Man, this is gonna be great!"

JoPa: "We'll, I can't be expected to entertain guests. Cancel those visits would ya? Too distracting."

I'm still scratching my head over this turn of events. Reportedly it was Joe himself who insisted - over the wishes of the rest of the coaching staff.
If I were a Nittany Lion fan this would concern me as it seems like it would create a somewhat tense atmosphere
