I agree - dumb move on JoPa's part, as no recruit wants to have an official visit canceled for any reason, especially at the last minute. JoPa should have planned his visits better.LJB - I understand your point about the relative value of in season and off-season visits. It makes perfect sense that there is a greater opportunity for contact with the coaching staff. I know you were not defending Penn State's decision in making that argument.
I believe you will agree though that JoePa's late breaking decision to cancel these visits remains ill-considered. Setting aside for the moment the case of Rickerson, he was a hand-holding situation anyway - Penn State was low on his list of favorites, this has already left a bad taste in another recruits mouth. Brandon James was clear in an interview that he was displeased with this dis-invitation. He had Penn State in a small group of 3 colleges in which he had an interest.
So that's one down (Rickerson), one ticked off (James) and how many others looking sideways? Colin McCarthy was one of those intending to officially visit. There is no reported reaction from the McCarthy camp. Perhaps he like the others is being polite, or discreet. Regardless I can well understand a negative reaction to JoePa's late change in the travel plans of these young men, not to mention their parents.
