Well, that's two of the finest defenses one will see anytime soon. OSU may have better individual players, but Penn State played quite well as a unit tonight. I can't remember too many games where the playcalling seemed to be as "afraid" as it was tonight from both teams. Of course, one team was ahead, and one wasn't, and both teams called plays like they were ahead. Obviously it worked for one and not the other.
The turnovers were they key, plain and simple, and one would be hard pressed to find a game where turnovers played the basically singular role, because bothe defense dominated tonight.
As for the ref crying, I'm not surprised...Big Ten officiating is always bad. Most of the calls didn't matter anyway, because both teams were punting all the time, and even if one considers the holding not called on Penn State, there's still no excuse for the OSU offense playing like it did.
Hats off to both teams...I saw a lot of heart, a lot of effort, and that's all anyone can ask...though a few more positive offensive plays would have been nice.
