Game Thread Game Five: Penn State 17, Ohio State 10 (Final)

And as far as the refs hosing you guys, thats BS, we made the big plays and the turnovers. period.

scUM is next!!

You will get no complaint from me that PSU played a hell of a ballgame, but if you can sit there and say that there was no ref involvement I have to call you either blind or ignorant. Watch the game film, uncountable holds, piss poor spotting, and the end fiasco, well that was inexcusable. Did tOSU deserve to win that game? Nope. Did our defense earn the right to at least be treated with the respect it deserves? Hell yeah. That crap of killing the clock at the end of the game was dispicable. Anyone who played football knows that we a team is in the victory formation they are expected to snap the ball and take a knee, not stand back there and dick around to delay the game. Without that PSU has to punt the ball back to us. Do I blame PSU for this, NO, the refs should have been on top of the game enough to set the ball and wind the play clock instead of letting PSU milk the home clock for more than they should have. Piss poor, show me 1 buckeye fan out there that would not at least like to see PSU punt that ball to end the game... that is what should have happened.

Overall though, PSU beat the crap out of the OSU offense and made the turnovers happen, credit for that.

This is the first time I have went off on the offense. The offensive performance the last 5 years at a school like Ohio State is unaccetable. Like I said, can Tressel get SOME of the blame? I am not entirely blaming (o line and Troy Smith) this loss on Tressel. Doesn't Tressel call the plays? This offense has been shit for 5 years. Look at all the fucking players in the pros - Wells, Krenzel, Carter, Jenkins, Hartsock, Clarke, Walter, Olivea, Stepanovich, etc. That is off my fucking drunk mind.

And if you read any of my other posts, you would see that all I defended was playcalling which I will continue to do. Of course JT deserves some blame, but my opinion is that the playcalling is fine and the execution is lacking. The fault of execution is another subject altogether.

Look, everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, the way you stated yours was a personal attack on me and I took a swing back.

No harm, no foul.

We are killer at home, but just a good to decent team on the road...year after year.

Agreed. Under Tressel, we're 10-7 on the road in the Big Ten:

2001: 3-1
2002: 4-0
2003: 2-2
2004: 1-3
2005: 0-1

There's a few crummy teams which translate into sure wins every year (e.g., Indiana and Illinois the past few years), which makes the 10-7 decent road record seem all the more mediocre.

I am sorry if you took it personal. I am a little steamed after this game and drunk off my ass.

people may not realize this but this is penn state's year, they are back in the hunt and i think they will win at the very least a share of the big ten title, i'm scared of what they will be 2 years from now with the freshmen they have right now

I've tried three times to go to bed and this one is really sticking in my craw. Where was Gonzo? Did he have a catch tonight?
Ginn all of a sudden is scared of getting tackled.
Brandon Schnittker is really the back up tailback??? I mean I know it says that on the two deep, but come on.

I don't mean to sound overly negative after a loss, but did anyone else feel like in the 4th quarter, despite the fact that our D forced another punt, that there was no way our offense was going to drive down the field and score a TD? I know PSU's defense is much, much better than Iowa's, but our O looked like two entirely different teams against those two opponents.

I dont' think we've had one good offensive team since tressel to be honest. We played lights out when MoC played the first 5 games, and after he got hurt it was ugly the rest the way. I love Jt as a head coach but its obvious our defense is awesome, and also our special teams. Theres just no reason why we can't compete on offense. I see a theme here with our offense, and at first I also thought execution. I just don't think execution can be the problem when our offense struggles 7-8 games out of 11 during the season.

Like we said coming into the season. We have a talented team, senior lead, and we're still saying execution is the problem?? At what point does JT say enough is enough? He's had 3 years outta the 5 when he's had senior lead offense and has under performed all 3 years. Now this year is probably the best offensive year we've had under JT, and thats not an extreamly good sign.

I still believe with some luck we can win the big ten, and by no means do I think the season is over. The arguement can be made of execution, but this has been a reaccuring problem for 5 years now.

What I see from the 2005 team is a marked improvement from last year. We're at least competing in every single game and solidly beating the teams we should beat.

so you're saying we should be happy we're atleast competing? wow, thats not the OSU football IMO.
