GA DB KJ Bolden (Georgia Signee)

The defensive staff is showing that as a whole they fail on the field and more and more often on the recruiting trail but other than on the field and recruiting, we're totally fine.

Just don't call them out or complain about it because that is sooo much more annoying than getting blasted by tsun or losing to UGA.

Regarding Knowles, I am not ready to burn a guy at the stake after his first year when he was clearly working with VERY subpar secondary rooms. 3 starters went undrafted and the DB room was so thin at points that a freaking kicker was filling in for depth.

How is that his fault year one?

They’re going into their second year…
Understandable and I think they need a year of continuity and a dominant defense (from beginning to end) to gain traction on some of the types of defensive recruits we have been missing on. NIL was really 100% of what happened here...we are getting better there, but another year and the staff should be improved. I think the overall approach right now on NIL is good

But matching $2.2 million is a tall task...granted F$U has been doing it well before it was legal and they have a leg up with all that practice, but Bama and UGA also got outbid here as well. So this is a straight "money talks" scenario imo where we decided not to match it or couldn't. I would be more critical if this was pre-NIL, but not much more because you are trying to get a top 10 overall kid out of the deep south. That might happen like 5% of the time (with WR under Hartline being the outlier). My real concern is the same thing happens with Houston and then we are in trouble.

I apologize for always going to this well, but in my opinion he provides by far the best coverage of the team and college football recruiting more broadly, but Birm has indicated that Bama and Georgia are already pulling back from huge NIL deals after their experience in year one, with Birm specifically citing how dysfunctional Bama’s locker room was last season.

You can see that as well, with Georgia getting burned for Bolden by FSU just like Ohio State did, and Auburn is currently smoking Bama with NIL deals.

Long term, managing your locker room like Ohio State (and Bama and Georgia) is the smart move. A&M destroyed themselves with horrible NIL deals in one year, and these insane deals will destroy teams just like stupidly expensive contracts will destroy any professional team.

Be patient, do things the right way, and keep up contact with these players taking the money early who are walking into situations that are likely to fall apart.

Show continued improvement in year two on defense, maintain continuity with the staff, and beat Michigan.

It’s frustrating as hell;college football is insane right now. But I have no doubt that Ryan Day is handling it as well as any coach in college football.

Here’s hoping the results show this season, especially in Ann Arbor.

Seriously. This team does need to land better defensive players, no doubt. But you have to be happy with the DB haul this year. If Houston comes aboard and/or Lighfoot flips that would go a long way. I still believe the OT Baker is the most important piece though.

Regardless, it will be fine
Been damn near praying for Baker for months now. Would ease a whole bunch of pain.

KJ Bolden is listed as a WR on Florida State commitment list. I know he’s said they’re starting him at Corner and also said himself that he prefers WR.
Sounds like they want him to be a two way player for them, in the same vein as Travis Hunter before he flipped.

Makes even more sense why OSU didn’t land him. No way does he make OSU as a WR.
