G/F Evan "The Villain" Turner (2010 Naismith Winner)

If we're 7-7 with 5 of the losses coming with Evan out of the lineup, we're in the Dance.

The tourney committee will definitely make sure it takes those games without ET with a grain of salt.. If Turner played against Butler, Ohio State takes that game (maybe easily).

Guys are going to get better and when Evan comes back, this team is going to better than ever. This is a team I can see winning a lot of games in the tournament.

Well, since Turner says he is going to miss six games, I would suggest that he needs to make up those games, preferably in March. Leading the team to the finals of the Big Ten tournament accounts for two extra games, so he'd then need to add four more games in the Big Dance. Not counting the first round, that means Final Four. Of course, he'd likely have thrown down half a dozen double-doubles and probably yet another triple-double in this stretch, so we should expect that from him as well.

Seriously, though. I love his determination to come back. This is a very different team with Turner on the floor. Between his leadership and Lighty's, they're going to make a serious run at the conference title and should be a dangerous draw in March.

Turner is the man, and he's at lil' Sullingers game right now with Matta and Diebs. This team must be starting to really come together which is a good sign..

Great to see ET at Northland's game tonight with Coach Matta and Diebs. They also showed Clark Kellogg and Herbie in the stands.

Haha, unfortunately no, although I definitely should have. Funny thing, the only one of my High School friends who joined a college facebook group for " '15 " was the one that goes to BYU.

Crazy mormon partiers.

The Mayor of Columbus:( was getting some valuable face time by sitting right next to Matta. I wonder where Frannie might be these days:biggrin: okay back to Turner :osu:

Turner's Tumble Leaves Him Hoping for a Speedy Recovery
By John Porentas

You often hear it from people who are in violent car accidents or other violent events in which they are injured. It seems like the whole thing happens in slow motion, from the time they see that onrushing semi to the time it hits them and mashes their car.

OSU point forward Evan Turner had one of those slow-motion moments recently, but it didn't involve any kind of trucks, cars, motorcycles, or airplanes. All that was involved in Turner's moment was a steel rim and some hardwood.

"I thought I was in the air for like five or 10 seconds, but I pretty much just fell off the rim and hit the ground pretty quick," said Turner who had the advantage of seeing video of his fall in OSU's 111-60 win over Eastern Michigan.

Turner's slow-motion moment came on an innocent-looking fast break opportunity about mid-way through the first half. As it unfolded it looked like an easy play. Turner said that it was almost too easy, and that's what helped cause his problem.

"I got the ball and was dribbling up the middle of the court," Turner said.

"One of my teammates was on the right side and I was thinking somebody was going to stop the ball, but nobody stopped the ball at all.

"I was so surprised I kind of fumbled when I went up, and the kid (defender) kind of hit my right arm and I didn't have balance," Turner said.

The surprise of an unimpeded drive to the rim plus the contact was enough to throw off Turner's timing just enough for him to miss grabbing the rim to stabilize himself, and that led quickly to his slow motion experience.

"I just didn't grab the front of the rim. I missed the rim," Turner said.

Ohio State guard Evan Turner thinks he can heal by early January
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer

Columbus -- The first days after he broke two bones in his back, Ohio State junior Evan Turner could barely get off the couch. His teammates were serving as orderlies.

"One day I rolled onto the floor, and I tried to get up, and thankfully Dallas Lauderdale came over and picked me up," Turner said Friday. "It was tough. I was thinking, 'What am I going to do for the next six to eight weeks?' "

It was both uplifting and nerve wracking to see Evan jumping up a down a little bit on the sidelines on Saturday. Seems like his recovery is coming along beautifully and he's definitely still in each and every game, coaching his peers along.

Cant wait til he's back.

When ET comes back...man am I one excited person for Buckeye Basketball! Even better is that I have tickets to the Final Four, and I can see the team making it at least that far.
I can feel your excitement but I think we lack the "aircraft carrier" to get us to the Final Four. The elite eight would satisfy me but that type of discussion belongs in another thread. Turner was doing a little bouncing last night off of the bench. Hope he doesn't balance too hard.

Merry Christmas and Turner's new year

While here, Thamel also picked up material for a blog item on how coach Thad Matta is dealing with Evan Turner's back injury considering that Matta himself has been limited by his own back problems since having surgery on a herniated disc twice in seven weeks in 2007.

Matta still wears a brace to support his right foot because nerve damage left him with "drop foot." It's a definite a handicap for a man with the energy of two 8-year-olds that he can't jump into a practice drill anymore to demonstrate exactly what he wants his players to do.

"It's challenging every day because you?re not the same person that you once were," Matta told Thamel.

Thamel noted at the end of his blog entry that how Turner performs when he returns this season could affect his decision whether to leave early for the NBA. Thamel calls the Buckeyes "early favorites to win the national title" if Turner returns, a fact he said is not lost on Turner.

Turner said Ohio State, with the addition of freshman big man Jared Sullinger to enhance its inside game, would be "an all-star team. It would be a definite national championship.?

Damn you have your tickets for next years Final Four already? Haha just joking, but yeah that would be great. I could see us making it to the Elite Eight realistically.
