Future Football Schedules (Updated 8/31/2024)

TCU- Top level tier 2 team
USC-Self Explanatory
Toledo-Always a tough in state team (Minus the last two years)
NMSU-Could be worse, still DIA

I think 2009 makes up for all the bitching that people did about this year

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State is negotiating a one-game deal with Texas Christian that would bring the Horned Frogs to Ohio Stadium in the 2009 season opener.
Ohio State associate athletic director Steve Snapp said no contract has been signed, but it appears TCU will visit on Sept. 5, 2009. That date, and another in 2010, opened last year when Army backed out of a home-and-home deal.

Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus- Concerned about the strength of Ohio State's nonconference football schedule? Tired of the cracks about Youngstown State? Well, get ready for that to change.
OK, it's just Texas Christian, but it is a step up.
Steve Snapp, Ohio State's associate athletics director who is in charge of OSU's football scheduling, said Saturday that TCU has been added to the 2009 schedule. Although the contract is not yet signed, Snapp said the Horned Frogs will visit Columbus and fill the hole created when Army backed out of a two-game series set for 2009 and 2010.

Prediction: Ohio State will start to get some serious media credit for scheduling blockbluster matchups every year. They have not forgotten the Texas series yet, and the USC series will become legendary.

Alternative Prediction: The media's 10 microsecond attention-span will continue to dominate their opinions. They will give Ohio State credit for blockbuster matchups, just like they did when we played Texas. But the second (microsecond) that one of the blockbuster teams happens to suck the year that we play them, it will be 2007 all over again. We will be ripped up one side and down the other by exactly the same people who pimped our blockbuster match-ups.

Buckeyes add Sooners to schedule

Wednesday, January 16, 2008 3:12 AM
By Tim May

The Columbus Dispatch

Ohio State augmented its football schedule yesterday when it announced a home-and-home series with perennial Big 12 power Oklahoma starting in 2016. The Buckeyes will play in Norman, Okla., on Sept. 17, 2016, with the return match Sept. 16, 2017, in Ohio Stadium. OSU's aim is to have at least one of its four non-Big Ten games each season be against a noted intersectional opponent, said associate athletic director Steve Snapp, who handles scheduling.
The Buckeyes, who just lost the national championship game for the second straight year, were criticized for a nonconference schedule that included three in-state opponents and a game at Washington, which is rebuilding.

At the La Salle function this evening JT mentioned adding a 2 game series with Tennessee in '18 & '19 following the Oklahoma series. Also mentioned he'd likely be watching those games from his rocking chair.

Mods - Move this to the rumor mill if you feel it's not suitable here.

Ohio State, Tennessee to play two
Thursday, March 27, 2008 9:14 AM

Ohio State and Tennessee will begin a two-game series in football beginning in 2018, the universities announced this morning.

The first game will be Sept. 1, 2018, in Knoxville in the teams' season opener. The Buckeyes and Volunteers will meet again on Sept. 7, 2019, in Columbus.

?Tennessee-Ohio State is a great natural match-up for two tradition-laden schools that are less than 400 miles apart,? OSU associate athletics director Steve Snapp said. ?Playing the Volunteers for the first time during the regular season will be a great series for our fans.?
