bingo, I mentioned that in the other thread. Almost universally all comics hate him, they take turns on Stern making Cook the butt of jokes although some of that is probably jealousy.

I didn't know any of that. But, FWIW, there are alot of comics that go on Opie and Anthony that seem to genuinely like Dane. Alot of stand up is the same joke told from different perspective. Besides, I've watched alot of stand up through the years, and I've never heard my favorite bits of Cook's from any other comedian.

Meh, his CD's make me laugh, some of his stand up is good, some of it is meh, but I can say that about most comedians.

Now his movies on the other hand, Waiting was kind of pointless and Employee of the Month should have never been made.

I don't find him funny in the least. At best, he's a moderately funny and soon to be forgotten stand up.

That some people want to include him with stand up geniuses like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Sam Kinnison or Eddie Murphy is absolutely ridiculous.

Well you have to take age into consideration here. For one, 2 of the comedians you mention are dead (RP & SK), and Eddie Murphy really isn't that funny anymore. So you have a younger generation who have never seen/heard these guys and the stand up they did is pretty dated. A younger group of people will have a better idea of who Dane Cook is rather than Richard Pryor, it's sad but it's reality.

He was funny in "Waiting". I also got a kick out of him when he hosted Saturday Night Live, in the skit where he had the giant wool sweater.

As for his standup........meh, it's ok....... He's a bit overhyped if you ask me.

Dane Cook is awful. Nevermind that he doesn't belong among legends like Carlin, Pryor, Murphy, etc. He's not even the good compared to his contemporaries. I find just about anybody else they give a half hour to at 2AM on Comedy Central to be better than Cook.

IMO, a comedian is only good for about two albums, after that they go stale. Take Richard Pryor near the end of his career, I know everyone will flip, but it aint that funny. George Carlin, never really loved his stuff anyway, but his newest stuff is just fucking stupid. Dane Cooks first album, harmfull if swallowed, was just plain funny. His latest stuff is nowhere near that.
