Fred Davis (official thread)

Fred isn't too happy, so what. I do not get any satisfaction out of his little bummed out attitude. Now if he were a scUMmer, that is a different story. I hope that he works hard, maybe harder than anytime in his young life, and has success on the field, as long as it's not at OSU's expense. But honestly, I really couldn't care less about FD.

I'm glad now that he's not in Columbus. Can you imagine what he'd be saying if he were here?
no one cares about this kid.
These kids with the "I want it now" attitude really bothers me
If he was in Columbus, he wouldn't be "saying" anything. At least not anything you'd be reading in the papers because it wouldn't be a story because he'd have done what everyone thought. Look, the Toledo Blade went out there and sought out this story. They wrote this up because, believe it or not, people in Toledo just might care about Fred Davis after all. You think you wouldn't get a story that read similar in certain respects if you went and talked to lydell ross? Also, what's wrong with this so called "want-it-now" attitude (which I think you are seriously misinterpreting). He's a great athlete who wants to do his best and succeed. I suppose you'd want Tony Gonzalez not to have the "want-it-now" attitude, huh? That would probably really help both Gonzalez and Buckeyes alot ... if he just stayed in his place. It's not like Fred Davis is saying he ought to be playing now and that he's better than the people ahead of him.

I don't get the animosity towards kids for just living their lives. Let it go.

I was dissappointed when Davis decided to go to USC. I thought he was coming to OSU.

He made his choice and he now has to live with it. He is only a freshman, I'm sure he'll be playing in a year or so.

Welcome to D1A Fred.

Yet another 5-star, "can't miss", "will be a first-team AA as a freshman", type kid who can barely get on the field. USC got the nation's top OL and by-some-experts #1 player last year (Jeff Byers) along with the #2 (or whatever Davis was ranked) WR, and neither started at the start of the year and one (Byers) had to switch positions (guard) to start. Like I've a million times before, recruiting rankings mean jack shit.

I agree. Look at how AJ Hawk was rated against D'Andrea & Carpenter. All those players are great, but Hawk played ealier and is positioned to be much better at the next level.

However, when the rankings prove to be right, in the case of Peterson and Ginn Jr., it makes the "experts" who rank these guys appear to know what they're doing.

Napes, I agree that Byers' starting as a true frosh is quite noteworthy, but as highly regarded as he was coming out of high school, it was actually expected. Keep in mind that he was considered by some as the best overall player, period, regardless of position.

I'll take Teddy instead, thank you very much.

Southern Cal WR Fred Davis (official thread)

http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200~28543~2621598,00.html

Davis shenanigans: Tight end Fred Davis did not show up for practice Monday, continuing his standard practice of never returning on time from a three-day weekend.

Carroll said he hoped Davis would show up today when the Trojans are scheduled to leave for Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

"We'll see about that one," Carroll said.

The rest of the team is ready to leave, according to Carroll.

"It's game week," Carroll said. "It's on. We're trying to keep focus on ourselves."

and then this from Insiders USC....

Coach Carroll also said Fred Davis was the only player to not make the trip. Asked why, he said,
“He didn’t get back in time.”
