Former DC Kerry Coombs (Former Cincy Bearcats Interim Head Coach)

Watching his character and demeanor, he kind of reminds me of Bob Stoops of YSU when he was coaching with Jim Tressel then. Bob Stoops was the DB coach back then and he was very good. I really like Coach Coombs and i saw him during the Hoot & Holler drill and had to wonder who was the wild man with the gray out there. Now i know and i hope he can become very infectious to his players.

Um, Coach Hayes used to get a little bit worked up . . .:wink2:
Coombs is bonkers all the time. Lots of coaches get fired up when guys make plays, Kerry goes berserk before anything really happens in the circle

Hayes may have been crazy too, but it was a different flavor.

Kerry Coombs enjoying new role with OSU
Cincinnati Enquirer
The voice mail greeting on his cell phone is
vintage Kerry Coombs, replete with the
same enthusiasm that has defined Coombs
throughout his coaching career, first at
Colerain High School, then at the University
of Cincinnati and now at Ohio State.

?Hi, you have reached Kerry Coombs,? he
says, ?proud football coach for
The Ohio
State University.?
...

At UC, Coombs recruited as the underdog
when he went up against schools like Ohio
State. He?s not an underdog anymore.

?If I get beat by anybody recruiting, that?s
on me,? he said. ?I?m going to own that.?
Local puff piece in Cincinnati, attempting to persuade the small, vocal minority of fans in Cincinnati who have unjustly turned against Coombs for making a move that was great for his career. And Coombs has been nothing but respectful to his hometown throughout the process. By the way, Coombs is going to be a blockbuster recruiter for THE Ohio State University.

Totally enjoying watching him during this ESPIN bit. He's a riot. When I think about my coaching style I'd have to say that I'm 80% UFM but that remaining 20% can move into Coombsian teritory pretty quick.

From one Colerain alumn to another...Congrats on being part of your first win as an Ohio State Coach, Kerry...you're missed at 8801 Cheviot Rd, but we are proud of you and glad you are still an important part of football in the state of Ohio.

Go Cards.

Go Bucks.

St. X grad here who has great memories of St. X beating Combs and the Cardinals twice in my senior year (05 season), but I love having him on the Buckeye sideline. Easy coach to like as a fan. Loved seeing him running out and congratulating Roby or whoever it was made the open field tackle on the quick WR screen.

that playoff game in 05 ranks as one of the best football games I've ever attended at any level. Wish Colerain could have pulled it out in OT. Coombs is intense for sure. Guy never runs out of energy.
