Game Thread For the Natty vs ND, “One More, Then Forever”, Jan. 20th, 34-23 Buckeyes!

Watching all 4 playoff games again. Just realized - Fielding didn't miss any kicks (extra points and FGs) and put all his kickoffis into the end zone. (or not returned) Good redemption for the guy.

Edit: looks like he missed a 56 yard fg at the end of the first half vs Tenn

Edit2: Tenn returned the opening kick in the 2nd half to the 26.

He still had a good post season and was a reason OSU won.
He really was pretty good all year but 1 game

The Rose Bowl was the most enjoyable of the four games to me.

The setting, 34-0 just an all time game to me.
That Oregon half was the moment when I went “Oh fuck, this team really decided they’re just gonna be the unstoppable force they should be.”

Coaches and players, to a man, were locked in and ready to whoop ass. That was a #1 team, on the West Coast and the Bucks just empowered their will. So fun.

To the playoff’s credit, it’s fun to look back at the dynamic and variety of opponent you get throughout a run.

Beating a Tennessee SEC team in the Shoe in December, like we’ve always wanted. Facing a historic Pac10 team at the Rose Bowl. And that team happened to be a second shot at #1.

Then you get Texas at the Cotton. And finish it with a regional threat and historic powerhouse Notre Dame to lift the trophy.

Obviously some bias because it worked in OSU’s favor this year, but how cool? I still can’t believe it. These guys really did the damn thing. Champs forever.

It was like it scripted with those and the other storylines.

Right. Doesn’t even get into the fact this team lost The Game and needed every win for redemption and legacy.

And oh yeah, our rival won last year so it feels sweeter to match that (with no cheating aided years). Now we’re reigning champs and not those assholes.

Just an incredible story and I’m glad this group got to write the happy ending.

Saw that Tom and Gerd are writing a book. Apparently something called “30-Days to Glory.” Largely based on Tom’s photos and I really hope that they document some / all of these stories we keep hearing about. They alluded to knowing some of them that we may not know yet. Crossing fingers. It would be a great book.

I got a text from one of my friends who is a Buckeye hater:
"I'm at DFW and there are sooooo many people with tOSU gear on. Vomit emoji"

:slappy:
I happened to be at DFW around January 3, 1978; a day or so after the #5 Domers had defeated #1 Texas and jumped all the way to final #1, since #2 Oklahoma was drilled in the Orange Bowl by Arkansas (coached by Lou Holtz).

There were a lot of celebrating Domers in that airport that made me want to vomit.
