2023 FL RB Mark Fletcher II (Ohio St. decommit, Miami Signee)

Ohio State four-star RB pledge “not ruling out” more visits elsewhere

Fletcher considers more visits

It’s been over seven months since Ohio State dipped into the state of Florida to reel in 2023 four-star running back Mark Fletcher of American Heritage (FL) as he pledged to the Buckeyes over Miami (FL), Michigan, Penn State and more. But as things currently stand, concerns are beginning to arise as to Fletcher ultimately being in the class when all is said and done.

The Fort Lauderdale native has pieced together an impressive senior campaign and it comes as no surprise that programs across the country are still pursuing the blue-chip back. In recent weeks, Fletcher has taken visits to both Florida and Miami (FL) and it seems as if more visits could potentially be coming down the line.

According to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins, Fletcher is “not ruling out more visits” after spending his weekend in Gainesville to watch the Gators blowout win over South Carolina.

Saw this and with the lack of creative run calls, his commitment has me concerned.

It has absolutely nothing to do with that...If it did, he definitely wouldn't be visiting Miami.

Rushing Offense:
Florida - 2,253 yards 6.06 yards/rush 27 TDs 225 ypg
Ohio State - 2,079 yards 5.78 yards/rush 26 TDs 208 ypg
Miami - 1,401 yards 3.86 yards/rush 12 TDs 140 ypg

And let's keep in mind, the Florida QB has almost 600 of those yards and 9 of the TDs.

You're sorely mistaken if you think playcalling has anything to do with Fletcher now looking around...

Thankfully we still have some viable OH options, and the portal is always open. RB is one of the easiest plug and play positions, but let's be honest, Fletcher wasn't going to get meaningful minutes without any injuries until at least year 2.

As soon as those rushing numbers popped up I was thinking the same thing...... how many of those are from the QB bc he makes one read and then takes off? That is their offense. Most of OSU's run production has come from the RB position, with some WR jet sweeps thrown in there too.

pretty comprable team rushing numbers. And look at the historic trends...... it isn't even close.

The issue that may have come up is Tony Alford sold this kid by breaking down video of how OSU can improve his NFL odds, the he watches a game and they can't move it 2 or 3 yards.

This is probably Day's fault because of his "stubborn" need to prove that OSU can move the ball through power alone, without trying to find creative ways to open the lanes up.

Every year there seems to be a growing pain lesson with him as a coach. Still a excellent coach, but he is still a work in progress with apparent blind spots.

Actually not that bummed.
And I’m not saying he isn’t a good prospect.

We don’t need him for next year.
Every TB on our roster is scheduled to return.

We will need 2 in the 24 class. We will get 2 great ones as the depth chart will be more appealing.

And/or the tranny portal will be an attractive option.

What?
Our YPG is 6th best in the nation.
We Ave over 200 yds per game on the ground.
If you would have said we are trending towards a wr driven program I may agree.
But you could sell less wear and tear on the tires which is attractive to a prospect and the NFL.
