What?
Our YPG is amount the best in the nation.
We Ave over 200 yds per game on the ground.
If you would have said we are trending towards a wr driven program I may agree.
But you could sell less wear and tear on the tires which is attractive to a prospect and the NFL.
Hey just looking at the optics of the situation, because sometimes that is the case. If you have all these pundits keeping on saying there are glaring issues with the run game, then a recruit with multiple options will inevitably consider the criticism.

In order for the passing game to be dominating there needs to be a modicum of some sort of competent run game.

Somehow, after the 9th or 10th game of the season, Day admitted he was being stubborn when he was trying to play trench warfare alone.

So missed opportunities I think that will rectify themselves over the next couple games, but it's too late for Fletcher.

Hey just looking at the optics
...of fan/CFP histrionics strictly about OSU and applying it too narrowly to a Florida recruit, one of the most volatile subjects in CFB.

He's likely headed to Florida, where lead back Montrell Johnson has broken 100 yds 3 times this year.

I hear all the stats that you're throwing out, really I do. And they all make a ton of sense. But it has been well documented that Fletchers "people" are looking for up front NIL money. I don't blame him if it's out there, and I'm not angry about the decommitment because it has been rumored for a while. Like @cdiddy70 said, a RB in this class wasn't NEEDED, it was a luxury. '24 pick who you want and attack those names until you get 2. We can pursue Cornist or Keys in OH, and let them sit and mature.

In the end OSU will survive. Every team has a issue every year. For some reason we have a OL and consequently a RB rut.

I highly doubt this is an optics issue at all….

To me, it makes zero sense from a business perspective unless there is some NIL money but even then it doesn’t make much sense to me.

I think one of the leading reasons you would pick tOSU vs an SEC program is actually fewer carries, with less exposure to hits. I think Big 10 backs do quite well in NFL and often times have even a little less wear and tear than SEC backs.

If there’s any downside for a South Florida kid of coming to tOSU, I’d say it’s looking at the weather of our last two games…..some kids welcome it, others not so much.

Good luck wherever he ends up….we’ll be fine.

The issue that may have come up is Tony Alford sold this kid by breaking down video of how OSU can improve his NFL odds, the he watches a game and they can't move it 2 or 3 yards.

This is probably Day's fault because of his "stubborn" need to prove that OSU can move the ball through power alone, without trying to find creative ways to open the lanes up.

Every year there seems to be a growing pain lesson with him as a coach. Still a excellent coach, but he is still a work in progress with apparent blind spots.

I am dumber for having read your posts. Recruiting forum decorum prevent me from responding further.

I wasn't laying it out like it was the law. Lol

It's just an opinion based upon frustration, and some based upon some podcasts I have listened to recently, where the run game issues have come up, and the crux of the issue was discussed.

In the end, if it was about NIL why did he pledge in the first place? Leaves me to believe there were other issues at play.

We may or may find out his reasoning later. It doesn't matter anyways, and it isn't the first nor last RB recruit we will lose.

Agreed.. I think depth may be a issue for him next season as well, because with the injuries, everybody may well return.

When he committed, he wasn't offered the same amount of NIL money that he's now being offered. UF all of the sudden flipped a Miami QB commit(and Miami has been open about offering up front money) and has all of these recruits visiting out of the blue... The not so quiet secret is they are now offering competitive up front packages. OSU has said from the start that they will not do that, if it costs them recruits, so be it.

It's also being said louder that Fletcher's family wants him closer to home. Columbus ain't moving

I’d argue quite the opposite. Miyan Williams has gone from 3 star, ranked something like the 50th best RB in the country, to a legit 3 and done NFL running back. Not sure he bounces this year, but he has done enough to become a 4-7 round draft pick in 3 years. So his NFL stock has significantly improved.

With Trey, he’s still learning the position. He was a DB and didn’t start playing running back until he was maybe a JR in high school. Plus he’s had injuries. But he will absolutely be an NFL RB.

Trey Sermon doesn’t get drafted as high as he does, or at all, unless he transfers to Ohio State.

JK Dobbins was a 2nd round pick.

So I would say that Day has a very good track record with improving RB’s draft stock.

I probably had a reactive bad read late at night. No argument there.
