Honestly, that's what we hope. Contain Sullinger so the three's rain down. Or contain the perimeter and the big man gets the nod (whether it's from the foul line or shattering the glass)

Nice post. However, I will take issue with you about Lamb shutting down Sullinger. Please remember that was one year ago and they were still both in high school and Jared did not have the cast of characters that he has now. There is no way that Lamb could keep Sullinger away from the basket this year but I sure as hell would like for him to try:wink:

I would say good luck to you guys if you would accidentally beat us but I really don't like Kentucky. Been there and been to the Baron's place and I just don't like it... sorry about that.

Kentucky is one of the few teams out there with the pure talent to play with OSU. Frosh laden teams are always a concern come tournament time - both good and bad.

However, when you get to this round it has a lot to do with coaching. Without comparing Calipari and Matta I submit that OSU has the advantage because they have older kids who are much more coachable. By that I mean that you can tell an experienced kid you want to run your O or D a certain way and they go do it. With younger kids that doesn't always happen. Lighty, Buford and Diebler have 12 years experience. Sullinger knows his way around the post like no freshman I have seen and will go to the basket of dish it back out as the flow of the game or the game plan dictates.

OSU is in trouble if we get in early or persistent foul trouble - which will be a prime objective of Calipari's game plan. OSU is in trouble if at least two of our perimeter players go stone cold. OSU is in trouble if a couple of Kentucky's frosh have a night like Brandon Knight did against WVU (barring the aforementioned foul trouble I think we are good enough defensively to not let that happen).

Barring any of the above I feel very good about this game.

There are two games this season where I felt going in that OSU needed to make a statement. Those were the games at home against Purdue and Wisconsin. Check those scores - and the George Mason game - if you want to see how this team has risen to the occasion. (I will discount games at Florida and FSU because they were too early in the season to be relevant now.)

All that said - it is March. Who knows what will happen.

The game against Oak Hill was on ESPN last year. To say Lamb shut down Sullinger wouldn't be truthful. Oak Hill double and triple teamed Sullinger every time he got the ball so it was a team effort. Sullinger also played with a broken nose he injured two days before.

Bottom line, unless all three outside shooters for Ohio State go stone cold on Friday Kentucky can break out the KY.

Lamb sounds like a classy kid:

Lamb was clearly upset with the referees? inconsistency throughout the game.

?The ref didn?t give me a call. He didn?t give me calls all game,? he said. ?But Jared got a baby call at the end, I don?t know what happened.?

Classy in defeat.

I'm not really "scared," but I'm not overly confident, either. In my estimation, a ten game matchup with Kentucky results in 5 or 6 wins. Ditto with UNC, Duke, Kansas.

The truth of it all is that Kentucky and OSU will probably have coin flip type odds in each game from here on out...tough to win four of those in a row. I'm just trying to enjoy the ride and let the chips fall where they may.

To be honest, Kentucky and Duke are the only two teams left in the tournament that I'm worried about. Kentucky is probably the most athletic team left, and has great matchups against OSU. Their whole team is long and very athletic, and OSU really hasn't faced a team like that all season. The biggest difference will be the freshman play for Kentucky vs the senior play for OSU. The majority of the time the seniors win in a big game like this, which is good for us. Kentucky has some great freshman, but will they be able to handle the pressure if it's a close game in the tournament?

As for Duke, they only worry me because of how experienced the whole team is. They are probably the most experienced team in the country, and of course always show up during the tournament. Bad news for us, is that we have to go through both Kentucky and possibly Duke to just make the championship game.

If we do indeed win it all this year, this has to be one of the toughest roads to the championship, especially for a #1 overall seed.

I'm very confident in winning the NC. However, this requires Sullinger to play well (not necessarily lights out) and 2 out of the 4 (Lighty, Buford, Diebler, and Craft) to be on fire. Have that and I think we are unstoppable.
