Half my passes don't go to the correct player...can't get any push on offense, it seems the AI are a bunch of dumb[censored]s, I don't how many times there was a chance for a goal after a rebound but the nearest player was about 50 yds away, i'm seem to always be in 2v4 situations on offense (and after waiting, not just initial rush)

I can't dribble around any player, it's always getting poked away, AI are dumb[censored]s

Use your D pad and switch your tactic to either High Pressure, Counter Attack, or Possession. Also you can hit left or right on the D-Pad and switch from more defensive to more attacking. Be careful when sending players on runs (LB+A), when they step into the path of another player the passing will go crazy sometimes.

As for dribbling, try hitting LB instead of using LT. It'll make a quick ball fake move to the opposite side of the players body and shakes the defender about 70% of the time.

It's kind of funny the handicap they have on online matches. I'm up 3-1 in a Ultimate Team tournament, can't shoot to save my life all of the sudden. Guy scores a goal, and I immediately drive up the field and score again with Ibrahimovic. EA servers and their hopes for good games, no matter how much bull[Mark May] they'll throw at you.

also, is this a bug, when I was playing in career mode, my guy was 74 Overall, i saved, shut it off, I turned it on, and it said 70 overall, wth? It seems my guy hasn't improved much at all, despite beasting all season (top scorer)

I haven't had as much trouble dribbling around players once I learned the precision dribbling, but I am still playing on semi-pro, so that may be part of it too.

I'm eventually going to have to switch to full manual control, if I want all of my passes to go exactly where I want them, but I haven't practiced with that enough to be comfortable doing that.

I had the same problem that you're having with stupid AI, and not being able to get forward runs. I just assumed that it was due to me playing on semi-pro, and playing on the 4th level of English football. After reading your post, I went into custom tactics and changed my offense to a more free form, and moved many of the offensive tactic sliders to get more aggressive runs. It worked out, after one game, and I was up 2-0 at the half. I was able to go back into the tactics screen and basically sit on the ball in the second half in an attempt to save my best players for the upcoming 1st round of the FA Cup. I'm really digging this game.

They only improve ratings through the accomplishments...look through the list and pick off some easy ones and you'll see improvement quickly.

yea i figured that, but im just wondering why i went from a 74 ovr to a 70 after shutting the game off? Happened earlier in the season as well when i went from a 73 back to a 70


Also, if you guys ever wanna play a game or do a league , let me know, would like to play some online stuff, maybe i'll pick up on some tips

OK. I abandoned the player only mode, and started as a player manager for League 2 Cheltenham Town.

I started playing on the lowest skill level, but that got boring, and I wasn't getting any better, because I could run forward and score goals whenever I wanted. Moving up to semi-pro has been a lot of fun, because I have to use a lot more patience and ball-control moves in order to stay in possession, and score a couple of goals per game in league matches. I still haven't been able to score on a cross, and only have one goal off of corner kicks. As soon as I figure out how to do those things better, I'll have to move up another skill level, because it seems like those skills are all that's keeping me from scoring 5+ goals every single game.

Does anyone know if winning the FA Cup gets you into Europa in this game? I know that FIFA Manager allows that, but there are a lot of difference between that game and Career mode in this game.

5 subs on the bench is killing me so far, because reserve players have low morale when there isn't any shot at them getting into a match, even if it's a blow out, and with only five on the bench, I can't waste spots on scrubs. The only way that I've gotten around this, is that as a created player/manager, I'm a better goal keeper than the 40 OVR rating of my backup keeper, so I'm able to have 5 outfield players on my bench, instead of 4 + a backup goalie.

Cool. I've got a decent lead in the league right now, I played backups and lost in the first round of the League Cup, and I was trying to decide whether or not to even try making a run at the FA Cup, or just be happy with making a run at the Johnstone Paint Trophy. The likelihood of actually winning the FA Cup as a League 2 club is pretty unlikely, but if Europa is attainable, I'll give it a shot. I am, afterall, only playing on semi-pro, so maybe I have a shot.

The FA changed the number of available subs back to five players for all English leagues except for the Premier League. They said that it was done in an effort to save clubs money by not having as many players on the bench. Something about trying to help clubs meet the UEFA fair play rules. FIFA 12 has added those rules for those leagues. As a sub-Premiere League squad, I only get to have 7 subs for friendlies, League Cup, FA Cup, and international cups.

If you haven't played with Man City on Head to Head on Live, DO IT! I was KILLING people with them. I scored a PK with Joe Hart! In the same game, scored a header with Lescott. 2 of my 3 goals (3-0) were from my CB and GK. Sometimes I feel bad for what I do on that game. Then again.... No, I don't because people quit out at an alarming rate STILL, despite the fact that Head to Head games are "Unranked".

So much for my delusions of grandeur. I just got knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by League 1 side Leyton Orient. Not only that, but they beat me 3-1. I took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute, and it all went downhill from there. I'll be lucky to make it to the 3rd round of the FA Cup...let alone win it and make it to Europa.

any tips on to defend a corner kick? Fuckin irritating that there's more than a 50/50 chance of the CPU scoring off the corner because my AI just stands there, either let's a guy get unmarked or doesn't jump up for the ball and the guy has an easy header

I've noticed that it's pretty difficult to defend crosses and corners in this installment, compared to previous versions. However, when the ball is in the air, pull and hold LT and your player will "jostle" with who he's defending. You can't do this for the AI, but for a selected player you can try to jostle. Also, it seems like this year the timing of headers and volleys is even more pinpoint, where you have to push B almost exactly when the ball reaches the player. In the past you could basically preload the shot or header, but this year it seems as if you press too early, the player will jump early and I've missed a few headers and volleys because of that.

Just make sure you get one of your CB's in front of the little indicator that shows where the ball is heading. On Ultimate Team, my three CB's are David Luiz, Thiago Silva, and Lucio so anyone that tries crossing on me gets nothing. When I'm playing Xbox Live matches I'm using Man City and my CB's are Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, then I have Kolo Toure playing CDM with Yaya Toure... Pretty sick little lineup.
