FIFA 12 (official thread)

IronBuckI

Calmer than you are.
I'm going to pick this up on the way home tonight. I played the demo and liked what I saw, but I've been playing FIFA Manager 10 for the past two years, and haven't actually played this series very much at all. Anyone else getting this today? I'm pretty excited, because the FIFA series has a much better rep than the NCAA football series, as far as gameplay is concerned.

My Amazon pre-order should be on my doorstep when I get home. Got the referral for BP, $20 credit from ordering NCAA 12 and $12.75 credit for trading in NCAA 11. They were also offering a $20 credit of its own with the game, which I plan to apply to my Skyrim pre-order.

I don't know how much I'm going to get to play right off the bat since I'm going out of town later this week.

I haven't really played a FIFA game since '02-'03 on the original Xbox. I did download the demo and give it a try. It seems fun. They apparently revamped the defensive system this year, and after giving it a try a couple times I reverted to the legacy controls. I'll give the new system another try with the full game.

CPU marking on your own team's behalf was horrible in the demo. I've read that it's better in the full version, but it sounds like it's going to take some slider and tactical adjustments to get things right. The other thing I've read is that the CPU doesn't foul and generally doesn't make errant passes at all. Hopefully those things can be fixed in some way to make it a little more realistic.

Also, I've been watching a series of YouTube videos called Let's Talk FIFA 12. They guy who made them pretty much rages against anything that's wrong with the game, and they're kinda funny.

The number one thing I'm excited to mess with is sliders, which are making their first appearance in a FIFA title.

So jib you can make it so that the AI is more erratic if you wish.

Yeah, I've been reading the sliders and tactics threads on Operation Sports the past couple days.

If anybody here employs a set that they find effective, please let me know.

That video is terrible. A. The usage of the R word just shows how uneducated he is. B. He, on a few occasions, proved that he knows nothing about soccer/futbol/etc...Some of his points are true (Pato running through the net which I thought was pretty funny) but some of his points made no sense....at the 4:09 mark, he scores a goal and puts it through a diving keepers legs. Um yeah that actually does happen toolbag. At that point the keeper is hung out to dry, he just has to guess and hope he's right. Again at the 3:00 mark with the Messi goal, yes that does also happen. This guy is an idiot

He needs to play on a harder level and he would SUCK at that game if he played it properly instead of pulling the rubbish for every goal.

I've been trying out sliders and making adjustments all night. Adjusting the marking way up seems like a must. I've got the game speed and most of the factors in a manageable position, I just need to work on the sliders for each side's shape. I've tried the ones that I've seen suggested on Operation Sports, and they may be realistic, but in the video game environment it's borderline unplayable. I'm going to incrementally spread things back out and see where it takes me.

Fun game so far. I'm looking forward to diving in to Career Mode once I'm back home in a couple weeks.

It's just a joke. He actually likes the game. Calm down.

I played a little last night by starting my player career as a 17 year old striker playing for the The Crew. What I couldn't find was any sort of training that I can do between games. I'd like to be able to do different skills training, and maybe even learn multiple positions. Is that kind of thing even possible?
