What's hard to understand there? I'm struggling to find a problem with what I said.

I'll simplify it as much as I can..

OSU performed well against two good (at worst) offenses in PSU and Troy. The top teams in our conference can play with the best of any conference. The Big 12 has not seen a defense as good as ours.

It's just you man.

The argument that the Big 12 has no defense may be true. But defenses in other conferences just may only seem to be good because they play bad offenses. This whole argument is nothing but speculation and we will never truly know the answer until the games are played. However, I think it is very flawed logic to just say that Big 12 offenses only seem to be good because they play bad defenses and not acknowledge that Big 10 defenses may only seem to be good because they play inept offenses.

Both are probably very true imo.

Don't know if I agree with the blog posted above. Texas has faced most of the premier spread offenses in the nation this year(Florida and PSU excluded) and beat all but one of them. I don't think that tOSU would be wise to try and employ an offense that the longhorns are very comfortable with. I am not saying that the bucks should be looking for three yards and a cloud of dust but I wouldn't worry so much about giving the Texas defense as I would giving the bucks D a rest.

Sure throw in a wrinkle or two, its a bowl game, but as with any high scorring spread offense the best way to beat Texas is to pressure the QB, Tackle well, and keep their offense on the sideline as long as possible. In the end tOSU is still in the BCS and a top ten team...Dance with the girl that brought ya

The best way to beat a team that scores a ton......is to have that offense on thet field as little as possible. I think the best thing for the Buckeyes is to take a lot of time off the clock on their offensive series and keep Colt on the sideline.

When do they pick the jersey colors? I assume texas gets to pick because they are ranked higher, is that correct?

Yep, they do...so they'll be in their home Orange jerseys. A vBet was proposed on this very issue earlier, but one major player decided not to participate. Bottom line:

Texas: Burnt orange home jerseys
tOSU: White road jerseys

Evidentally a half brain cell was go enough to look up--and not assume--the fact that Iowa, and not Texas, was the home team for the 2006 Alamo Bowl...thanks for proving that assuming requires no brain cells at all.

yeah, and it's not like Texas couldn't have CHOSEN to be the 'road team' given their higher ranking...

Which teams? I think UT legitimately has a good (not great) defense. The only team to really torch them this year was Tech, and that was only for 32 offensive points. UT's weakness in defense this year that I alluded to a couple pages ago- short passes and YAC- is not so coincidentally Tech's philosophy on offense.

Past Texas though, you may have a point. KSU, A&M, BU, ISU, KU, NU and Mizzou all have below average to bad defenses. Tech's, OU's, and OSU's actually aren't horrible, they just aren't consistent, and I think that has a lot to do with facing a bunch of good offenses. On that same note, I think Florida will score almost at will on OU next month.

I think we mostly agree and my comment intended no disrespect. I meant Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. Ohio State and Penn State are both ranked in the top 8 in total defense. I don't think that Colt McCoy has faced a defense this year as good as Ohio State.

I'm rather skeptical about the NCAA stats on both teams. Texas has a good rushing defense but, in a pass-happy Big 12, I don't know what to think of its #2 ranking on rushing defense. I suppose Ohio State's ranking could be said to be questionable as well, if one proposes that Big Ten offenses really aren't that good. Our defense has looked exceptional the last two years and then been exposed in bowl games.
