Game Thread FIESTA BOWL: tOSU 21, Texas 24 (01-05-09)

That's the MO right there. This is not an explosive offense, just one that's really good at consistently gaining yards and converting third downs. There haven't been too many quick scoring drives this year.

The scoring drives from the OU game were:
10 plays- 57 yards
12-80
6-51
12-89
5-42
8-74
6-80

Every game looks a lot like that.

Not too many home run threats. Neither Shipley nor Cosby can consistently beat guys deep, though Cosby's awesome in tight 1 on 1 situations. The backs haven't really busted many long runs. Colt's pretty conservative about going deep, maybe 5 or so attempts per game over 20 yards.

We have the best DB in the nation matched up on shipley, and Chekwa on Cosby. Being that we have two threats off the edge ( Gibson and Williams) if we start pressing the recievers, maybe Colt might start gunning out a few throws to early - hopefully a couple picks we can nab.

OSU has played a good offense in PSU. I'm not crowning it as a great offense, but it is certainly not inept. Troy is not inept, but not amazing, either. Not saying that Big 10 defenses are awesome, but OSU has played some teams that aren't inept on offense and done very well against them.

I do think that the Big 10 as a whole is not that great. I think MSU is very overrated (:(), I think Northwestern is very overrated. I think the top of our conference is as good as any other conference, however, and better on defense than anything the Big 12 has seen.

What's hard to understand there? I'm struggling to find a problem with what I said.

I'll simplify it as much as I can..

OSU performed well against two good (at worst) offenses in PSU and Troy. The top teams in our conference can play with the best of any conference. The Big 12 has not seen a defense as good as ours.
