I'm not sure about 2012 yet...but until then, i'm thinking each year will be one.

A win in this game will really help confidence going into the 2009 season. I'm hoping Pryor can tear up the Texas defense, either with his legs, arm, or both. I am looking forward to see how our senior stay, especially the ones who will likely be draft picks this spring. I really think we will win this game. There is very little pressure on the Buckeyes to win. They are huge underdogs, and not many people are giving them a chance, and that is just fine. I won't be surprised when Texas comes out ready to play, but I honestly think we are going to be the faster team, and match up really well against them. Especially on the outside. I am not sure how well our lines will match-up against theirs, but if we can neutralize the play on the line, then I really think the rest of the match ups favor us. I am excited to see our defense against their offense. They don't pass downfield well. I'm thinking that we can force some turnovers and play a bend and don't break game. I think our defense and skill positions are going to really stand out in this game. It'll be a close one, mostly because of the line play on both sides of the ball...but I like our big play ability, especially on defense. A win vs. the #3 team would be great. I like that we get to play 3 elite teams this year. First time, not so good. Second time, very good game, but just fall short. I think third time is a charm. Go Bucks!!! I'm already pumped up!

Same old, same old nets same old result
Several readers wonder about the logic of today's column urging Jim Tressel to open the offense against Texas, to the point of designing something that resembles the wide-open attacks employed by many of the Big 12 teams. You know, short passes, quick slants, the no-huddle and the shot gun formation.
The readers' concern seems to be that it's too late to change things up, that the Buckeyes should stick with the same mostly predictable playcalling that allowed them to go 10-2. My counter argument is twofold: 1. OSU's more conventional offense -- relying on Beanie Wells more than any other single piece of offense -- would allow the Texas defense time to catch its breath. The Longhorns rank 50th nationally in total defense (20th in scoring defense), but it's a safe bet those numbers would be better if UT faced conventional offenses all season. So don't think the Buckeyes will have their way with the Texas defense just because the statistics say so. Ohio State needs to keep things humming on offense to keep UT''s defense gasping for air.

That was exactly my reaction when I read the story.High Lonesome;1352169; said:Don't know if I agree with the blog posted above. Texas has faced most of the premier spread offenses in the nation this year(Florida and PSU excluded) and beat all but one of them. I don't think that tOSU would be wise to try and employ an offense that the longhorns are very comfortable with. I am not saying that the bucks should be looking for three yards and a cloud of dust but I wouldn't worry so much about giving the Texas defense as I would giving the bucks D a rest.
Sure throw in a wrinkle or two, its a bowl game, but as with any high scorring spread offense the best way to beat Texas is to pressure the QB, Tackle well, and keep their offense on the sideline as long as possible. In the end tOSU is still in the BCS and a top ten team...Dance with the girl that brought ya
Texas has faced the following defenses:
No. 66 Oklahoma
No. 71 Texas Tech
No. 72 Arkansas
No. 78 Colorado
No. 85 Oklahoma State
No. 86 Baylor
No. 91 Missouri
No. 96 Kansas
No. 113 Texas A&M
No. 114 Rice
No. 115 UTEP
Texas is the higher ranked team. My understanding is that it is out of our hands. It is Texas's choice, and we get the other.Snappy_Jay;1352221; said:Does anyone know (I tired to search but got nothing mybe I'm just dumb :-) if we will be wearing Home or Away jerseys for the Fiesta? My thought too. Texas beat Oklahoma, Missouri and Oklahoma St in consecutive weeks, and was a dropped INT from beating Texas Tech. That's four teams with four Heisman caliber, two-year+ starting QBs, plus gifted WRs all over the place. Each of them has at least one game-breaking WR like Iglesias, Maclin, Bryant and Crabtree. Hell, throw Reesing and Briscoe from Kansas in there as another pair that would probably be All-Conference in any other conference other than the Big-12.High Lonesome;1352169; said:Don't know if I agree with the blog posted above. Maybe we can pull what USC-UCLA did and both wear home jerseys...how cool would that be with burnt orange jerseys on one side and scarlet jerseys on the other?
Buckeye86;1352235; said:that would be kinda cool, but how about BLACK jersey's!? how badass would that be? Texas would be in such shock of the badassness of black jersey's that we would win for sure
