Ohio Stadium turf to be replanted in Columbus city parks

Forget the divots, potholes and strange bumps found on so many youth-sports fields.
Instead, hundreds of kids involved in Columbus Recreation and Parks sports programs this summer will be playing on the same grass used by the Ohio State football team.
After the spring game today, workers will begin carefully removing the Ohio Stadium sod. The school will install a synthetic turf field.
But rather than throw out the old grass, it will be donated to the city of Columbus. It's enough to cover three baseball fields -- one at McCoy Park and two at Driving Park.
