Ohio Stadium turf to be replanted in Columbus city parks

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Forget the divots, potholes and strange bumps found on so many youth-sports fields.

Instead, hundreds of kids involved in Columbus Recreation and Parks sports programs this summer will be playing on the same grass used by the Ohio State football team.
After the spring game today, workers will begin carefully removing the Ohio Stadium sod. The school will install a synthetic turf field.
But rather than throw out the old grass, it will be donated to the city of Columbus. It's enough to cover three baseball fields -- one at McCoy Park and two at Driving Park.

Continued....

someone down there needds to go get a large hunk of the old sod. You need it, you want it and besides that you need to give me some. :wink2:

Just wait 'till it's re-planted here...

You grow grass in your basement?
Inspired by Caddyshack perhaps?
This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff.

The Motz Group

Looks like they've decided on 24/7. There's no mention of tOSU on their site, but 10TV just interviewed their VP.

Weird, but I talked with a friend of mine, an NFL consultant, and he said the Motz people would get the job. I will follow up as much as possible, very interesting story. The Motz people did the natural grass, synthetic mix fields. Good stuff

Neat. Same guys that put artificial turf in my high school. I didn't even know my HS got artificial turf....why couldn't they have done this 5 years earlier? The old field was a POS. The drainage was terrible and the sidelines were at least a foot lower than the center of the field.

wow i was gonna sell my grass from the michigan game
got 3 big chunks
i just layed it on the side of my house
didn't dig it down or properly place it or anything
and the grass rooted by itself.
gotta keep it now since OSU is switching to field turf
may be the last time OSU ever uses grass.
kinda sucks though because I will miss
running on the field after beating michigan sealing
another undefeated season getting a chunk of grass off the field
to take home for the memories
